Hello Pinecrest Friends -as many of you know I have been out of the office for an over a couple of months due to family illness. I appreciate your thoughts and prayers for my wife Anna. We both still come by the clinic to take care of things but are thankful for our staff who have stepped up and exceeded expectations in providing care for all of our clients and their pets. I miss working and I miss seeing you all. I also enjoy taking pictures of the dogs cats, pups and kittens and have missed posting pictures. When we were there yesterday, I did get a couple of photos I thought I'd share. Karma (white pup) and Muffin (brown and white pup) - not related by breed or by family - both happened to be little bundles of joy and energy and brightened my day. -- Dr. Kapoor

We are posting this photo of little "Doe River Kitten" to help find a new home. She is a stray that someone is caring for currently but they already have other cats and three is a crowd. Good things do happen. And good things do make a difference. A caring person has brought an abandoned pup to our attention to help find him a home. This little guy is about 5 months old and super sweet. He appears to be along the lines of a Basset/Lab cross. He is currently at the clinic to keep him out of the road and also to help him catch up on some nutrition. But we will be actively looking to place him with a loving family. Two pictures of him outside where he was left and two of him at the clinic. He is about 22 pounds and is almost fully grown. Welcome Maylee! She is not only a new pup and new to our clinic, she and her owners are new in the Pinecrest neighborhood. They have recently purchased a home in the area so we are glad to have some great new neighbors! Maylee is off to a good start and she is a sweet little girl Beagle.

Our clinic cat, Flo, has a request. PLEASE find these two kitties a home. Flo is our clinic cat and doesn't want to share "her" space at Pinecrest.😀. So the story is a little bit sad but also has a silver lining. These two kitties were abandoned and left in a pet carrier for "Good Sam". I have been out of the office quite a bit recently but these cats were so happy to see me when I checked in at the clinic and learned their story. The boy has been neutered and it looks like the female has been spayed. We have vaccinated them and treated for fleas/parasites. They will be free to a good home, Flo wants me to remind you - free happy cats to a good home. The sad part - someone had to give them up - we don't know who or why - but certainly hope the former owners are okay. The silver lining is that these two friendly cats (for now, named Edna and Sherman) ended up with us (ummmm, temporarily only, says Flo) and are ready to find a new home. We were glad to be a part of the 9th Annual Bowling for Brother's Keeper event this past weekend. Seven (pictured) plus one from Pinecrest were there to participate this year. We joined many others to support this wonderful organization. I am proud that the staff that attended and those that could not this year, help support these wonderful participants. (Thank you to them from me.) Brother’s Keeper is an educational and enrichment program designed to educate adults with intellectual disabilities to empower them to engage with the community. They have a great video on their website (as well as on YouTube) including information about Brother's Keeper. Check it out and consider showing your support through a donation now and in the future.

WE LOVE DOGS! But we also care about people. This is National DogBite Prevention Week. Remember any dog can bite. More than 4.5 million people in the United States are bitten by dogs each year, and more than 800,000 receive medical attention for dog bites, with at least half of them being children. There are lots of issues involved including teaching pets ideal socialization skills and teaching people best practices for how to interact with dogs.
