🐾 Meet Hazel! 🐾

When Hazel was surrendered to Oakwell, she was suffering from intestinal parasites and a severe case of heartworms that hadn't been treated. Because heartworms can be deadly, she was in desperate need of medical care.

Thanks to our Angel Fund, Hazel was able to receive the critical heartworm treatment she needed to survive. Today, she is officially heartworm-free, spayed, and thriving in her loving forever home with one of our very own team members!🥰

☀️🐾 Wellness Wednesday: Beat the Heat! 🐾☀️

Hot weather can be tough on our furry friends, especially during walks. Keep your pet safe with these simple tips:

💧 Bring fresh water and take plenty of water breaks.
🌡️ Walk during the cooler parts of the day, like early morning or evening.
🐾 Test the pavement with the back of your hand—if it's too hot for you to hold for 7 seconds, it's too hot for your pet's paws.
🌳 Stick to grassy or shaded paths whenever possible.

If your pet is panting excessively, drooling, seems weak, or has trouble walking, move them to a cool area and contact your veterinarian right away.
