A little fun comparison this morning. These are my two girls food. Same breed, same size, same activity level. Only difference is one is spayed, one is intact. When we spay or neuter a dog it significantly changes their metabolism! The difference in these bowls is 1/2 the dog kibble. Shock gets 2 cups, Freya gets 1. Supplements are the same. Even at the Lower amount. Freya is admittedly a bit more “pet weight” then o would prefer. She is about 6lbs heavier then Shock and 12lbs heavier then her competition weight. And she got that way, because I stopped measuring. It’s easy to over feed and not notice you just fed them a 1/3 to 1/2 as much more food then they require. Keeping our dogs at a healthy weight is as important as vaccinations and any other required medical care our dogs require!
Other additional yum in their bowl. A little wet food from Unrivaled. A frozen power greens and bone broth addition. Powered pumpkin. Probiotics. And a Mushroom and turmeric supplement.
If I had a dog of unknown pedigree and unknown joint health. I would also include Lots of healthy oils as well as hip and joint supplementation. However my girls are both x-rayed and not at risk for hip, elbow or spinal dysplasia or arthritis.
Can you tell by a quick glance that one bowl has double the calories???
