Hearthstone Animal Clinic Hearthstone Animal Clinic This tradition has continued under the ownership of Houston Veterinarian, Dr. Steve Pelton who purchased the facility in 2007.

Hearthstone Animal Clinic is a full-service, small animal veterinary hospital in Houston providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care. Founded in 1982 by Dr. Sterling Hall, Heathstone Animal Clinic quickly became a staple for pet owners in and around Houston seeking high-quality, compassionate care within a welcoming and modern facility.

Blue eyes, dark ears, and a tiny flower charm on one very self-assured Siamese kitten. She knows the lavender blanket matches her aesthetic.

Fall is a popular time for new kittens, and those early months matter. Kitten vaccines start around six to eight weeks, with Rabies and FVRCP leading the list, plus feline leukemia where it makes sense. Dr. Pelton can also talk timing for our spay and neuter services, including laparoscopic spay, which usually means smaller incisions and an easier recovery. As a Houston veterinarian, we have guided families from Cypress to Katy through kittenhood since 1982. The vaccination schedule sounds more complicated than it is, and we keep it simple.

Hearthstone Animal Clinic is the veterinary clinic your new roommate deserves. Seen this at home? We can help.

Cooler mornings in Houston do not mean mosquitoes are done for the year, and mosquitoes are how heartworm disease spreads. We see it year-round here, which is why prevention is not a seasonal thing. It is a monthly thing. Treatment for heartworm disease is long, expensive, and hard on the dog. Prevention is one chewable and done.

As your Houston veterinarian, our veterinary clinic can test your dog, get prevention started, and check weight and overall health while we are at it. Scales do not lie, but we deliver the news gently. Dr. Pelton has been doing this a long time, and this guy passed with flying colors.

Pine cones, red berries, and one small white dog looking mildly betrayed by his festive outfit. He wore it well, even if he disagreed.

Costume season is here, and while we enjoy the outfits, we would rather check what is hiding under that curly hair. Dental disease is one of the most common issues we see as a Houston veterinarian, and small breeds are especially prone to it. A professional pet dental cleaning under anesthesia lets us remove plaque and tartar safely, and Dr. Pelton can catch early gingivitis before it becomes something worse.

A few signs worth watching at home:
- Bad breath that lingers
- Dropping food or chewing on one side
- Red or bleeding gums

If a kitten like this recently joined your household, fall is a good time to plan ahead. Core vaccines like Rabies and FVRCP come first, then the spay or neuter conversation around five to six months. Dr. Pelton can walk you through our spay and neuter services, including laparoscopic spay options, which use smaller incisions and often mean a quicker recovery for your cat. Our veterinary clinic has been handling these routines for Houston area families since 1982, and kittens are honestly the easy part. It is the teenagers that get opinionated.

Hearthstone Animal Clinic is the animal clinic Houston families from Cypress to Katy have counted on for decades. More at hearthstonevet.com.

The stare of a black cat who has claimed the top perch of the cat tree and is not accepting feedback. We know that look well.

Fall is settling in around Houston, and indoor cats still need their basics checked off. Core vaccines like Rabies and FVRCP protect even the ones who never leave the house, because viruses do not knock before entering. Our veterinary clinic can also talk through spay and neuter services if you have a younger cat in the mix, and Dr. Pelton can flag dental issues early, since cats hide mouth pain better than almost anything.

Hearthstone Animal Clinic has been the Houston veterinarian for families from Cypress to Katy since 1982, and yes, we have opinions about cats on top shelves.

A black t-shirt, a carpet, and a very calm white dog getting some one-on-one attention. This is the kind of patience we aim for with every patient.

October is a good time to look in your dog's mouth, and not just because they will let you. Plaque hardens into tartar fast, and by the time you smell it, dental disease has usually started. Our pet dental cleaning is done safely under anesthesia, so we can remove buildup above and below the gumline, check for periodontal trouble, and handle extractions if needed. Dr. Pelton will also send you home with realistic tips, because nobody is brushing a curly-coated dog twice a day.

We have some exciting news from our animal clinic in Houston. Dr. Pelton is now offering laparoscopic spay procedures, and it is a real step forward in spay and neuter services.

Instead of one larger incision, this minimally invasive approach uses a couple of tiny openings, which means less pain, less pulling on tissue, and a quicker recovery for your dog. Most patients bounce back faster and need less downtime, which your couch and your schedule will both appreciate.

As a veterinary clinic serving the Houston and Cypress area since 1982, we are always looking for better ways to care for your pets. Adding laparoscopic spays to our surgery options is one more way we do that.

If your pup is due for a spay, ask us whether the laparoscopic option is a good fit.

Copper here. 🐾

Dr. P asked if he could be in my photo today. I thought about it. I said yes, but only because he's the one who brings the treats.

People keep telling him it's a nice picture of him. That's sweet, but let's be honest. Nobody is looking at the guy in the black shirt. They're looking at the handsome redhead with the flag tag and excellent ear posture.

My job at Hearthstone is pretty important. I ride in every morning, check on everybody, greet the patients, supervise lunch, and take a nap or two so I'm fresh for the afternoon. Dr. P handles the "doctor stuff." I handle morale. I'd say we split it about 50/50. Maybe 60/40 in my favor.

If you come in this week, stop and say hi. Belly rubs are free. Ear scratches are free. Treats are negotiable.

If a calm face like this joined your family over the summer, fall is a smart time to talk about spay and neuter services before the holiday rush fills up our schedule. Our Houston veterinarian team offers traditional procedures as well as laparoscopic spay, which typically means smaller incisions and a quicker recovery for your cat. While your kitten is here, Dr. Pelton can also make sure puppy vaccinations or kitten boosters are current and set a baseline wellness exam. Our veterinary clinic has been caring for cats and dogs across Houston, Cypress, and Katy since 1982, and we treat every patient like family, even the judgy ones.

As we head into October, we still see plenty of dogs panting through the lingering heat, and that is often when owners notice the breath situation has gotten out of hand. Bad breath is usually the first sign of dental disease, not just a quirky trait. A professional pet dental cleaning under anesthesia lets us remove plaque and tartar safely, check for periodontal issues, and keep small problems from becoming extractions. Dr. Pelton can also give you at-home dental care tips to stretch the results.

- Dental exam and cleaning under anesthesia
- Periodontal treatment and extractions if needed
- Simple home care recommendations

Our veterinary clinic has served Houston, Cypress, and Katy pets since 1982. More at hearthstonevet.com.
