Just a momma and her six fluffy babies 🥰

In all the years we’ve owned chickens, this is the first time we’ve had a momma hen lay on a hidden nest and hatch her own babies. 😊

We found it pretty fitting that momma (who the kids named “Tomato Lettuce” when we first got her) laid a nest right next to the garden…so to keep the theme going the girls have given the chicks “vegetable names”. 😂😂😂😂 so far we have Corn, Radish, and Carrot.

Well….

An overzealous rooster pulled the p**f off our silkie “Petunia”.

So what did her chicken momma decide to do?

1. Sell the Rooster (we don’t put up with bullies)
2. Give Petunia some headgear to protect the feathers as they grow back 😂

(Don’t worry…the p**f will return. This isn’t the first time we’ve had a bald hen 😂)

We love our silkies. Not every hen in your flock has to be a production layer. While 90% or more of ours consists of laying hens…the silkies are there just for pure enjoyment.

While we may be sold out of honey for the season….we’ve got some friends right down the road that still have it!! And their sourdough baked goods are incredible! Go check them out!

It’s Apple Festival weekend in Hendersonville! 🍎 If you’re headed downtown to enjoy all things apples, we’d love if you made a little time to stop by the farm stand, too!

Hey Yall! 👋

We are back from our R&R and our hens were busy while we were gone! (Our farm sitter couldn’t believe how many eggs they were collecting on a daily basis!)

We have plenty of local Farm Fresh Eggs available this week!

🥚 What makes our eggs special????

Well our feed doesn’t come from a big box store…in fact it comes from a mill less than a hour from us!

🐓 Our birds get all kinds of extra TLC with 4 little girls taking care of them!

They get to roam the property freely and eat bugs, extra veggies and herbs, and whatever else they find in addition to their feed.

🧽 Our eggs come to you unwashed

Meaning they are safe at room temp and can be left out for close to a month!!!

💵 These eggs are $5 a dozen! Get them while they are still available!

👀 And if you would like to be on a regular rotation for eggs(weekly, bi-weekly, etc). Just give us a shout!

Hey Friends!

Well…we just wanted to let you know that we are “out of the office”, spending time with family, and making memories.

It’s been a busy year, the chickens, bees, and our family have put in alot of work! And we are taking time to relax, spend time together, and rest.

So we will be radio silent this next week. No videos, no posts, and only as needed communication.

We aren’t going away! We will be back! But we believe that rest is important…because the work will always be there, the projects will always be there, and you have to take time to recharge your batteries and sharpen your axe.

We love and appreciate all of you!
