She Had a Family Once. Now She Lives in an Outdoor Kennel. ๐Ÿ’”

This is 10 year old Eliza.

For most of her life, Eliza lived with a family. Then, when she was about 8 years old, and became inconvenient, they dropped her at the McDowell County shelter.

They never came back.

We pulled Eliza from the shelter expecting she'd find another home quickly. Instead, we've spent the last 2 years trying to help her recover from losing the only family she had ever known.

Today, Eliza is 10 years old and still living in an outdoor kennel at our rescue.

She watches other dogs arrive, get adopted, and leave. She stays.

Eliza isn't just another senior dog looking for a home.
Losing her family affected her deeply. She forms very strong bonds with her people and struggles when left alone. She was even almost adopted twice and returned because she became distressed when separated from her new family.

What Eliza needs is pretty specific:
๐Ÿก Someone retired, working from home, or home most of the time and can take her with them when they leave
๐ŸŒพ A farm, acreage, or rural property where she can safely roam and stay close to her people
๐Ÿพ Someone patient and experienced with anxious or emotionally sensitive dogs
๐Ÿ’› A home where she's included in everyday life and doesn't spend long periods alone

Eliza isn't the right fit for every home, but for the right person, she's an incredibly loyal and loving dog.

She loves people. She loves male dogs. She loves being close to her person. And after everything she's been through, she still wants nothing more than to belong to someone.

The reality is that dogs like Eliza are easy to overlook. She's older. She has baggage. She needs a special situation.

But she's also spent 2 years waiting for someone to give her another chance.

No inquiries in over a year. No applications.

Just waiting. She's no longer waiting for the perfect family, she's waiting for someone to save her from dying here

Please read her story and share it. The person she's been waiting for may not know she exists yet

๐Ÿพ Learn more about Eliza on our website, and please Share and DONATE to help us care for her while we look for someone to save her.

๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿพ VOLUNTEER PHOTOGRAPHER NEEDED โ€” HELP OUR DOGS GET ADOPTED ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ“ธ

This sweet senior girl is Smoky.

Like so many rescue dogs, she's waiting for someone to notice her.

The truth is, one of the biggest factors in getting dogs adopted isn't just their personalityโ€”it's their photos.

A great photo can be the difference between a dog getting overlooked and a dog finding a family.

Right now, our small staff spends their days feeding and watering dogs, cleaning kennels, washing bowls, administering medications, and caring for 30 dogs. There simply isn't enough time left in the day to take a dog out for the kind of photos they deserve.

We're looking for a volunteer photographer (with a helper) or photography team who can help us change that.

๐Ÿ“ท What we need:
โ€ข Someone comfortable handling dogs on leash
โ€ข A self-starter who doesn't need supervision
โ€ข Someone who can leash dogs, take them from their kennels to our green space and capture flattering, fun, personality-filled photos
โ€ข A partner or helper to come with you (it really takes two people to get those ears up, eyes focused, and tails wagging!)

No professional studio required. Just patience, kindness, and an eye for helping our dogs look their best.

We'll show you what works, but our staff won't be able to step away from daily animal care to assist during photo sessions.

Every great photo helps tell a dog's story.

Every great photo helps a dog get seen.

And every dog that gets adopted opens a space for us to save another life.

โค๏ธ If you love photography and dogs, this is one of the most meaningful ways you can volunteer. And the dogs LOVE the attention.

๐Ÿ“ฉ Send us a message if you'd like to help our dogs shine.

๐Ÿพ. Rocky is a great dog and heโ€™s looking for a real home and family
to call his own ๐Ÿพ

Just look at that smile. ๐Ÿ˜

Rocky is around 2 years old and has all the makings of an amazing best friend. He's friendly, active, loves being outdoors, and is ready for a fresh start with a family of his own.

This handsome boy came to us from the shelter, so we don't know much about his past. What we do know is that he's got a happy spirit, a wagging tail, and a whole lot of love to give.

Rocky would love an active home where he can stretch his legs, explore, and be part of the fun.

๐Ÿ’™ Dog-friendly
๐Ÿ’™ Good on leash
๐Ÿ’™ Medium energy
๐Ÿ’™ Ready for his forever family

Have questions about Rocky? Send us a messageโ€”we'd love to tell you more about him!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR DOGS.
