We are a 24/7/365 veterinary emergency and specialty hospital located in Greenville, South Carolina. Our team provides medical care to pets in SC, NC, GA, TN, and beyond. We offer a broad range of advanced medical technologies and skilled, compassionate care in a state-of-the-art facility. Specialty care includes cardiology, critical care, dentistry & oral surgery, internal medicine, neurology & n

eurosurgery, oncology (medical & radiation), and surgery (orthopedic, soft tissue, minimally invasive). Our hospital accepts patients in need of specialty care by referral only. This means that your regular veterinarian must contact us prior to you making an appointment. A referral is NOT needed for emergency care. Our team works in conjunction with your primary care veterinarian to create the best medical care plan for your pet and your family. Upstate Vet is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association. We choose to be continually evaluated for accreditation by AAHA, because it challenges us to stay at the forefront of all the latest changes in veterinary medicine and practice operations. AAHA has truly helped us reach our goal of providing the best in personal, quality care for our patients and clients. In 2011, Upstate Vet (under the Upstate Veterinary Specialists hospital name) was honored for its work by receiving the award of Specialty Hospital of the Year in North America from AAHA.

After being left outside during a dangerous heatwave, Moose came into the care of with significant wounds. Today, he’s on the road to recovery thanks to the incredible care and compassion of so many people.

Our board-certified surgeon, Dr. Baysinger, is currently fostering Moose while helping the humane society manage his wounds and support his healing. We couldn’t be more proud of her for opening both her home and her heart to this sweet boy. ❤️

We’re also incredibly grateful to the Greenville Humane Society for the lifesaving work they do for animals in our community every single day. Swipe to see Moose’s incredible progress. 🐾

Employee Spotlight: Gillian S. 🌟

Gillian began her career in veterinary medicine four years ago, after making the decision to leave her job at a local credit union to pursue her passion for caring for animals. Her journey started at the local animal shelter, Greenville County Animal Care, where she worked as an assistant in the spay and neuter clinic. She also assisted with wellness appointments, helping provide affordable veterinary care to veterans and families in need.

During her time there, she began pursuing her degree in Veterinary Technology. Upstate Vet hosted her first internship, and afterwards invited her to join the team as an employee. Today, she works in the Emergency and Critical Care department, where she has developed a passion for triage, patient stabilization, and providing compassionate care to critically ill patients and their families. She is due to graduate from her Veterinary Technology program by the end of this fall (yay!)

Three of her four pets are Upstate Vet Blood Bank donors; Carmen, Miley, and Scoopy. Having grown up bringing her own sick pets to Upstate Vet, Gillian says it is incredibly rewarding and humbling to now be part of the same team that she once looked up to.

We are so grateful to have Gillian apart of our Emergency team! ❤️

Every patient has unique needs, and Hugo’s was no exception. ❤️

Hugo is a long-term internal medicine patient of Dr. Vanessa Von-Hendy Willson. He sees Dr. V for management of his chronic cough and GERD, among other things. When he developed a growth on his eye, he was seen by Dr. Diana Pate at . Dr. V worked closely with Dr. Pate to create the best plan for him. Given Hugo’s age, medical history, and established relationship with our team, Dr. V and Dr. Pate collaborated to perform his eye surgery at Upstate Vet.

By bringing together the expertise of both specialists, Hugo received the care that was best for him. We’re happy to share that he did great and was able to go home the very same day!

Follow along as Harry goes through his palliative radiation therapy journey! 🐾

In this video, we demonstrate what a typical radiation therapy treatment looks like for our patients. Harry was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma above his right eye and received four weekly palliative radiation treatments.

You’ll see each step of the process, from getting ready for treatment to recovery. Because radiation therapy requires patients to remain completely still for precise treatment, they are placed under a short anesthetic. The radiation treatment itself only takes a few minutes, and most patients are able to go home the same day.

Thank you, Harry, for letting us be part of your journey! ❤️
