We are a 24/7/365 veterinary emergency and specialty hospital located in Greenville, South Carolina. Our team provides medical care to pets in SC, NC, GA, TN, and beyond. We offer a broad range of advanced medical technologies and skilled, compassionate care in a state-of-the-art facility. Specialty care includes cardiology, critical care, dentistry & oral surgery, internal medicine, neurology & n

eurosurgery, oncology (medical & radiation), and surgery (orthopedic, soft tissue, minimally invasive). Our hospital accepts patients in need of specialty care by referral only. This means that your regular veterinarian must contact us prior to you making an appointment. A referral is NOT needed for emergency care. Our team works in conjunction with your primary care veterinarian to create the best medical care plan for your pet and your family. Upstate Vet is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association. We choose to be continually evaluated for accreditation by AAHA, because it challenges us to stay at the forefront of all the latest changes in veterinary medicine and practice operations. AAHA has truly helped us reach our goal of providing the best in personal, quality care for our patients and clients. In 2011, Upstate Vet (under the Upstate Veterinary Specialists hospital name) was honored for its work by receiving the award of Specialty Hospital of the Year in North America from AAHA.

World Pet Memorial Day is a time to remember the companions who filled our lives with unconditional love, loyalty, and countless cherished memories.

As veterinary professionals, it is a privilege to care for pets and support the people who love them through every stage of life, including the hardest goodbyes.

Today, we honor the beloved pets who are deeply missed but never forgotten. Whether it’s looking through old photos, sharing a favorite memory, planting flowers in their honor, or making a donation to help other pets in need, we encourage you to take a moment to celebrate the love they brought into your life.

Their pawprints remain in our hearts forever. ❤️🐾

Meet two of our most recent HALT Study graduates: Draco and Bruce Wayne! 🎓❤️

Both Draco and Bruce Wayne were referred to us after being diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). For the past year, they have been dedicated participants in the HALT Study. We are thrilled to share that they have officially graduated!

We are so grateful for the families who allowed their pets to participate in this pivotal study for feline cardiac health. We also extend our sincere thanks to the referring vet community for helping to connect us with patients to participate in this groundbreaking research.

While the Halt study is no longer accepting new participants, our Cardiology Department continues to diagnose and support cats with heart disease. If you have concerns about your cat’s heart health, we’re here to help. 🐾

Sweet Stevie came to see our ER team after getting into a brand new container of grape-flavored gum (approximately 40 pieces). When her family returned home, they found the empty container, signs of vomiting, and Stevie struggling to move normally.

Her owners rushed her in for emergency care where she was evaluated by Dr. Benjamin Davids. She was admitted to the hospital for treatment and monitoring, due to concerns for xylitol toxicity. She spent two days receiving intensive supportive care from our team.

We’re happy to report that Stevie is doing amazing since her ER visit! 🩷🐾

Xylitol, a sugar substitute commonly found in sugar-free gum and other products. It can be extremely toxic to dogs. Swipe through to learn more about xylitol toxicity, the signs to watch for, and what to do if your pet may have been exposed.

What better way to celebrate your special day than by helping save the lives of other pets? One of our amazing blood donors, Link, spent part of his birthday donating blood! 🐾

Link is pictured here with his mom, Jody, one of our Cardiology Vet Assistants, rocking his birthday hat. 🎂

We are so grateful for Link and all of our incredible blood donor heroes. Please join us in wishing this very good boy a happy birthday! ❤️

A round of applause for our May Radiation Therapy graduates 🎓

These brave dogs and cats completed their radiation treatment plans this month and we couldn’t be more proud of them! 🐾

Not all of our graduates are pictured, but we’re celebrating each and every patient who crossed the finish line this May. Thank you to their families for allowing us to be part of their journey. ❤️

This sweet girl is Percy, she came to our ER for lethargy, vomiting, and decreased appetite. After lab work was performed, the results were suggestive of pancreatitis, a common condition in dogs that occurs when the pancreas becomes inflamed.

Percy was hospitalized for three days, where she received IV fluids and supportive medications. During her stay, she gradually began eating and drinking again. And her personality finally started shining through! Once she was feeling better, Percy was able to go home with medications and care instructions.

We’re so happy Percy is feeling better and wish her continued healing at home! 🩷
