📣 Hey Friends! We've got a small schedule update! 🐾

Starting August 3rd, our drop-off appointments, surgery check-ins, and phone lines will begin at 8:00 AM instead of 7:45 AM.

Why the change? Because those extra 15 minutes give our team time to gather for a quick morning huddle so we can review the day's patients, prepare for surgeries and appointments, and make sure we're ready to give every pet the best care possible from the moment they walk through our doors. 💚

🦟☀️ Summer Fun? Parasites Think So Too. ☀️🐾

Long walks, backyard adventures, lake days...your pet loves summer. Unfortunately, fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, and intestinal parasites do too. 😬

Just because you don't see them doesn't mean they're not there.

🐜 Fleas can cause itchy skin, allergies, and even tapeworms.
🕷️ Ticks can spread serious diseases to both pets and people.
🦟 Mosquitoes carry heartworm disease, which can be life-threatening and is much easier to prevent than treat.
🪱 Intestinal parasites can be picked up from contaminated soil, parks, or even your own backyard.

And here's the kicker...🐱🏡 Indoor pets aren't off the hook! Fleas can hitch a ride inside, mosquitoes don't care if your pet sleeps on the couch, and parasites can sneak in on shoes, other pets, or wildlife.

✔️ Stay up to date on annual heartworm testing and f***l exams.

Every great story starts somewhere... and for so many of our patients, it starts with a tiny puppy walking through our doors. 🐾💛

Those first visits are about so much more than vaccines and puppy treats (although we're big fans of both). They're about getting to know you, learning your puppy's unique personality, answering every new pet parent question, and building a relationship that lasts a lifetime.

👃🐾 It's More Than Just a Quick Peek! 🐾👂

When your pet comes in for their annual exam, they're getting much more than a few head scratches (although those are pretty important too 😉).

Our doctors perform a nose-to-tail physical exam to help catch small problems before they become big ones.

Here's what we're checking:
👀 Eyes for vision changes, redness, or cataracts
👂 Ears for infection, inflammation, or pesky hitchhikers
🦷 Teeth and gums for dental disease
❤️ Heart and lungs for abnormal sounds or changes
⚖️ Weight and body condition to keep your pet feeling their best
🤲 Lymph nodes for swelling
🦴 Joints and muscles for pain, arthritis, or mobility concerns
🐕 Skin and coat for lumps, bumps, allergies, parasites, or anything unusual
🤰 Abdomen for changes in the organs or signs of discomfort
🐾 Nails and paw pads for injuries, overgrowth, or hidden problems

Here's the thing...our pets are experts at hiding when something isn't right. By the time they're showing obvious signs, they've often been feeling bad for a while.

That's why annual wellness exams matter. They're one of the best tools we have to detect disease early, monitor changes over time, and keep your best friend happy and healthy for years to come.

☀️🔥 Too Hot to Handle? Your Pet Thinks So Too. 🔥☀️

Summer in the South isn't just uncomfortable...it can be downright dangerous. 🥵

Heat stroke can happen FAST, and by the time your pet is showing obvious signs, it may already be a medical emergency.

🚩 Know the warning signs:
🐾 Excessive panting
🐾 Bright red or pale gums
🐾 Drooling more than normal
🐾 Weakness or stumbling
🐾 Vomiting or diarrhea
🐾 Confusion or acting "off"
🐾 Collapse or seizures

💧 Help prevent heat stroke by:
✔️ Walking early in the morning or later in the evening
✔️ Always providing fresh, cool water
✔️ Taking frequent shade breaks
✔️ Avoiding strenuous exercise on hot days
✔️ Leaving your pet at home instead of in the car (yes...even "just for a minute." 🚗🔥)

🐶 Remember: Some pets are at an even higher risk, including brachycephalic breeds (like Bulldogs, Pugs, and Frenchies), senior pets, overweight pets, and those with heart or respiratory conditions.

❤️ If you think your pet is overheating, move them to a cool area immediately, offer small amounts of cool (not ice-cold) water, and call your veterinarian right away. Time matters.
