Serving Adams County since April 30,1976, the Adams County SPCA provides vital services to animals and people alike through sheltering and adopting animals, investigating animal cruelty and neglect, and rescuing animals in emergency situations. The Adams County SPCA is a private nonprofit organization that receives only approximately 1%of its annual operating budget of $650,000 from Adams County. We also receive donations from several townships/municipalities for our much needed services, but we continue to struggle to support the very important task of caring for the many animals that come through our doors. We do fundraising, memberships, apply for grants and receive some bequests. For the past couple of years, too many animals have become displaced orphans; a tragedy of these harsh economic times. We take in approximately 1500 animals per year and each year that number increases.

💕Two Missions, One Goal: Making a Difference💕

🐾 Small Paws, Big Impact🐾

Animals have an incredible way of reaching people when words fail.

Recently, the Adams County SPCA was able to help support the animal-assisted program at Hoffman Homes.

Early this week two very affectionate ferrets, named “Ramen” & “Noodle” were surrendered to our shelter. We knew they could make a difference with some kids that could use a couple of furry new friends. We were honored to place them with Hoffman Homes animal program, where they will help children learn, grow, and heal.

For many young people who have experienced trauma, building trust can be difficult. Animals offer something unique. They don’t judge and they don’t ask questions. They simply provide companionship, comfort, and unconditional acceptance.

Research has shown that interactions with animals can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve social skills, build confidence, and encourage emotional growth. Sometimes a child who struggles to trust people can begin by trusting an animal. From that foundation, healing can begin.

We are grateful for organizations like Hoffman Homes that provide hope, support, and opportunities for children facing difficult circumstances. We hope these two curious little ferrets bring plenty of smiles, laughter, and comfort to the children they meet along the way.

Thank you to everyone who supports both of our organizations and helps make stories like this possible. 🐾💕

Where are all the Rottweiler lovers?

I’ll be honest with you, I’m not a huge fan of Rottweilers, but Willow is by far one of the sweetest Rotties I have ever met! She is a big girl with a big heart. She loves relaxing and getting cuddles. She is very gentle and loves her tennis balls!

If you are interested in meeting her, submit an application at the link below.

💕MEET CHEETO!💕

Cheeto may only be about a year old, but he’s already a BIG boy with an even bigger personality! This handsome orange guy came to us as a stray, but we quickly discovered he had once belonged to someone because he was already neutered. Sadly, no one came looking for him, so now Cheeto is ready to find a family that will love him forever.

Since arriving, Cheeto has been chipped, vaccinated, and spoiled with good meals and attention. He’s settled in nicely and seems to enjoy the company of his feline roommate, so we think he could do well in a home with another cat after a proper introduction.😼

Cheeto still has a playful side, but one of the best things about adopting a young adult cat is that you get past some of the wild kitten chaos. Adult cats are often easier to settle into a home, their personalities are more developed, and they’re usually better at entertaining themselves without turning your curtains into climbing walls. Cheeto is still young enough to be playful and fun, but mature enough that you can already see what a wonderful companion he’ll become.💕

If you’re looking for a friendly, handsome orange boy with the perfect mix of fun and companionship, Cheeto may be your guy!
