The beaver ended up being RABIES POSITIVE. I am hoping that the child will be OK and treatment will be enough to save save them. Rabies is out there… it’s not a far off benign mystic thing that only happens in the remote wild. In the past 5 years I have had 2 positive raccoons on my property, one approached and chased after me. Depending on how the Rabies will show up in an animal, they can either have a dumb form or they can have your typical Rabies presentation. I have seen rabid fox be drawn to motion and activity within a house. When you step out of the house they will want to attack you. This happens in suburbs and not in remote wilderness areas. Even as an integrative vet veterinarian, this is a hill that I stand on.

The teen suffered injuries to his hands and chest as a result of the attack and was flown to a hospital.

Today, we’re sharing a case from one of our fantastic instructors, Dr. Mitsie Vargas .

A Siamese cat was diagnosed with transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) of the bladder in 2021. At the time, she was experiencing pain, weight loss, and hemorrhagic urine. As part of her integrative care plan, Bindi was prescribed Jing Tang Herbal formulas Red Front Door and Wei Qi Booster. After several years of doing well, her herbal treatment was transitioned to Eight Righteous in 2024 as her needs changed.

Now, nearly five years after her diagnosis, Bindi remains symptom-free and is living her best life. At her recent follow-up ultrasound, her bladder showed remarkable improvement compared to her original 2021 imaging findings.
Thank you to Dr. Mitsie Vargas for sharing this case with our community 🐱❤️ Cases like this demonstrate the impact that individualized integrative veterinary care can have on long-term patient well-being and quality of life!
