Have had a few people inquiring about Ash lately, and wanted to let those who also may be wondering that he's still doing well. He's going to be 14 soon and actually just uploaded a video to Youtube of him outside in the snow playing with his great great grandpup - a 4th generation descendant! :) He does have some arthritis, which is to be expected when you're essentially 100 years old, but overall is still in pretty good health. Enjoy the video :)

I wanted to share these pics of Ash out in the snow yesterday, he's going to be 13 and a half tomorrow!! He has slowed down in his old age but still has plenty of spark, when he was outside yesterday it was hard to get him in because he wanted to hang out for a while but it had started freezing rain, yuck. Tomorrow we're going to give him a delicious half birthday dinner - steak!

Ash turned 13! He celebrated his birthday a few weeks ago and while we try to get into Gettysburg to get him a goodie, unfortunately the weather has not been cooperating at all! However, for his actual day he did enjoy a ribeye steak and a homemade peanut butter cake :) He's slowing down now that he's an old boy but still doing pretty well. Ash is now retired but at some point, we will have puppies from him in the future as we have collected him for future use :)

If you don't hear back, please try again as we've had some health issues going on here but emails definitely are easier to respond to than phone calls.

Lovers of old fashioned German Shepherds may want to see this. These are pics of our girl Nattie - she's a dark black and tan and also has a reverse mask, this was seen more often around the 1940s and 1950s so she certainly has that old style look to her. Actually if you check out the last picture posted, you'll see a picture I took at my vet's office. This is a photo hanging on the wall of HIS grandfather at his own veterinary practice in Massachusetts back in the 1940s - the dog looks very similar to Nattie!

Oh as a note, she's prelim OFA good hips, normal elbows, OFA cardiac certified, degenerative myelopathy tested unaffected carrier. As you can see, Nattie has a wide head, thick bones, large chest and ahem...ample behind, we're really looking forward to having some gorgeous puppies from her!

For anyone who is looking for an adult German Shepherd, I was recently contacted with some sad news - a puppy owner of mine has passed away and his doggie now needs to be re-homed. She is a beautiful girl that is 6 years young, plushy short coat sable female who is spayed, house-broken, up-to-date with shots. Located in central PA. Both parents had their hips tested, father DM normal/non-carrier so she never should develop DM due to it being a recessive disease in which both parents need to carry the gene, and she is extremely healthy. pic of Ash from 7 years ago tomorrow - even though he is HUGE he truly is a gentle giant!! In the pic, you can see my husband is holding a tiny bunny. Originally, Ash had found him and was gently carrying that little guy around in his mouth until he brought the baby over to us. Not one "hare" (get it? lol) was harmed on that little bunny's little head :-D Love this pic, feel free to share it :)
