September is National Service Dog Month, a time to recognize the incredible dogs who help people navigate daily life with greater confidence, independence, and support.

Behind every service dog is a remarkable journey. From puppyhood through advanced training, these dogs spend months, and often years, learning specialized skills tailored to their future partner's needs. Whether guiding, alerting, retrieving, or assisting with daily tasks, service dogs are highly trained working animals dedicated to helping their handlers thrive.

This month, take a moment to learn more about the important roles service dogs play and how you can help them stay focused when you encounter them in public by visiting the link below.

A microchip can help reunite your pet with your family if the worst case should happen. But it only works as intended when the contact information connected to it is accurate.

National Check the Chip Day is a simple reminder to look up your pet's registration and make updates if needed. Misplaced your pet's microchip number? Give us a call to find out how our staff can help.

Back-to-school season means new schedules, quieter homes, and routines that look a little different. Whether it is a family dog watching the kids get on the bus or a cat whose college student owner just moved out, pets notice these changes.

A little planning goes a long way. Keeping routines consistent, offering enrichment, and easing pets into time alone can help them adjust as the household shifts.

Clear the Shelters Month is a chance to support local shelters as they work to help pets find safe, loving homes. Even small actions can help move more animals closer to adoption.

If you are ready to adopt, volunteer, donate, or simply spread the word, your support matters. Contact your local shelter or visit cleartheshelters.com to find a participating shelter near you.

Summer is for exploring, and your pet deserves to be part of the adventure. Whether you are planning a road trip, a weekend away, or a visit to family, a little preparation goes a long way.

Pack familiar items to help your pet feel at ease in new places. Plan for regular breaks, fresh water, and a comfortable spot in the car. And before you hit the road, check in with your veterinary team to make sure your pet is ready for the journey.

Summer means more time outside, and more time outside means more exposure to fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes. These parasites can affect your pet’s comfort, health, and overall happiness.

The good news is that prevention is easier than treatment. With a little foresight and the right plan, your pet can enjoy every backyard hangout, hike, and road trip this season. Ask our veterinary team about summer parasite protection.

Most pet owners have thought about what they would grab in an emergency, but not everyone has included their pets in the plan.

July 15 is Pet Fire Safety Day, which is as perfect a time as any to take a few small steps now that could make a big difference later. Place a pet alert sticker on your window so responders know animals are inside. Keep a go-bag with food, water, and medical records near the door. And make sure your pet is part of every practice drill. Protecting your pet is part of protecting your home.

Happy 4th of July! This year marks 250 years of independence, and there is no better way to celebrate than with the ones you love most. That includes your four-legged companions.

While you enjoy the cookouts, fireworks, and parades, a few simple steps can help your pets feel safe and comfortable throughout the day. Keep them in a quiet space during fireworks, make sure they have ID tags on, and keep holiday food and decorations out of reach.
