Abandonment.
Most of us who love animals would never even consider abandoning our beloved pets.
Who would do that?
What would make them do that?
Job loss?
Homelessness?
Lack of resources?
We don't know what happened in the human's life that led to what happened next for SIX precious bunnies...
A hotel manager found a cage full of rabbits left behind in an empty hotel room. One cage, SIX rabbits. They contacted a shelter who refused to help but told them to contact Blue Chip.
Well, they didn't call us...
They just brought the cage full of bunnies and dumped them here. Without consent. Without completing a Surrender Request form. Without checking to see if we had enough space (we didn't). While we always try to do what we can in an urgent situation, we are limited. We are not open intake. Our space is limited. Our Fosters are full. Our Volunteers are already overworked, as we have been needing more Volunteers for an extended period of time now. And of course, all expenses including basic needs and vet care rely completely on donations.
One rabbit appears to be the mother of four young rabbits. We have no idea where the father bunny is, as the other bunny with them is also a girl. The "babies" are just old enough now to reproduce - and they were all attempting to already! 😳 Just imagine how quickly one oops litter (as we suspect they are) can get completely out of hand!
Needless to say, we had to prioritize their spays and neuters. That's far more veterinary expenses than all of our rescue rabbits usually incur in an entire month! And they weren't the only buns needing care. So if you are able, Blue Chip would be truly appreciative of donations to replenish veterinary funds.
And of course these SIX more bunnies have ongoing daily needs.
