This was a wild case. Old open mandibular fracture possibly from bullet/gunshot. Rads (not shown) showed metal shrapnel in wound.

He was found on the tollway, picked up and taken to the Petsmart, where I happened to be in the parking lot.
He’s got some injuries to heal from and some preventions to start, and some social adjustments to make.
Creeper will be listed with ROSES cat Rescue in Houston when he’s available.

Check under the tongue!

If your dog is vomiting, refusing food, or pawing at their mouth, a “linear foreign body” (like string, yarn, or tinsel) could be the culprit.

As you can see in these photos, these objects often get anchored right under the tongue. As the other end moves into the intestines, it can cause the gut to bunch up like an accordion—a serious medical emergency.

⚠️ Never pull on a visible string. This can saw through their intestines. Call your vet immediately.

Sometimes we do emergency splenectomies during office hours. This one measures 10% body weight of the patient. Yikes 😱
