Before asking “How do I get my dog to stop doing that?” try asking:

“What does my dog need, and how can I provide it?” 💛

Barking, chewing, stealing things and struggling to settle can all be clues. Boredom, frustration and inadequate rest can make everyday life harder for dogs—and their humans!

A few places to start:

🐾 Get out and explore. Make time for an outing with room to sniff, move and investigate. Aim to come home with a dog who feels satisfied and ready to settle.

🧠 Give that brain a job. Practice a skill, teach a trick or play a searching game. Make it achievable, reward success and finish before frustration builds.

📦 Make room for dog stuff. Chewing, digging and scavenging are normal dog behaviors. Provide legal outlets before your dog invents their own! Try a food puzzle, a suitable chew or a supervised digging spot.

💤 Let sleeping dogs sleep. Your dog needs a comfortable, quiet place to fully switch off. Little catnaps in a busy living room don’t replace uninterrupted, restorative sleep.

💜 Notice the good choices. Settling nearby? Choosing a toy? Checking in with you? Let your dog know you like that! Show them what works, reward them and patiently repeat.

Start with one useful change. Notice what helps. And as always: train the dog in front of you.

What’s your dog’s favorite way to spend a really good day? 🐶

🐾 This is what training looks like when it starts becoming real life.

And just to be clear: these dogs did not start out looking this polished. 😅 Every dog and handler has their own starting point, and Rain or Shine: Pack Walk & Socialization Field Trip is where we practice the skills that help everything come together over time — walking nicely, checking in, navigating distractions, settling around other dogs, making good choices and enjoying being out in the world together. 💛

Everyone gets plenty of personal attention and expert coaching in real time, so we can work on what your dog needs while we’re actually out there doing it.

The exercise, sunshine and doggie friends? Those are just the icing on the cake. ☀️🐶

We change up our location depending on the goals of the group — you might find us exploring OSU campus, walking the trails at Bald Hill or MLK Park, or practicing our real-world skills downtown.

I’ve got a few spots I’d love to fill in our next pack walk group. If you’re ready to get out of the classroom and put those skills to work, come walk with us! 🐾

Leash on. Treats out. Let’s go. 💛

If you’re not sure if your dog is a good fit, send us a message!!

Please do not disturb. I have important work to do.

Enrichment isn’t just about keeping dogs “busy.” Chewing, licking, sniffing, and problem-solving give dogs appropriate ways to use their brains and bodies—and sometimes help make a big, exciting world a little easier to navigate.

Also: those paws. 🥹 Tucker, you slay us!
