4 Legs 4 Hounds Program

4 Legs 4 Hounds Program Contact Team Greyhound for adoption information
4 Legs 4 Hounds is registered in Ohio as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Our mission is to give medical care to injured greyhounds. This includes surgery and support throughout their recovery and rehabilitation. The Ohio State 4 Legs 4 Hounds Greyhound Program is a non-profit 501(c)3. The goal of the program is to surgically repair the greyhounds broken leg. After surgery, when the greyhound has been medically stabilized, the greyhound will be placed in a local medical

foster home. The foster home will be advised as to what medical care and rehabilitation the Orthopedic Surgeon has recommended for the greyhound. The medical foster home will bring the greyhound back to the Veterinary Hospital for medical care and follow-up as recommended by the Orthopedic Surgeon. The medical foster home will have regular contact with the Veterinary Hospital to discuss any medical issues between follow-up visits. When the greyhound is medically released by the Orthopedic Surgeon, the greyhound will be placed with a local adoption group. The adoption group will evaluate the greyhounds personality, needs and small animal test the greyhound. When these are known the adoption group will look for a forever home that is compatible with the greyhound. The forever home will need to know the greyhound is a 4 Legs 4 Hounds greyhound. They must agree to contact the adoption group if any medical issues arise with the surgically repaired leg. The must know to keep in contact with the adoption group as the greyhound will need to return to the Veterinary Hospital to have the plate that was inserted during surgery removed.

Short little update photo from last week. Meet part of our OSU team that we are incredibly grateful for! On the left is our foster coordinator, Morgan, holding our cow pelted greyhound Giselle. To the right of Morgan is Dr. Mitch, a small animal surgery resident here at OSU who helps with the care of our hounds! Lastly, we have Dr. Wanstrath (second to last on the right with grey scrubs) who is a professor and small animal surgeon at OSU. We are very grateful for their work and help with our hounds during their healing process 🐶

We have quite a few foster friday pupdates for you guys today!

Foster Friday Update – Billy
Billy has found his forever home and is doing very well! He’s playful, gentle, and bringing so much joy to his new family 🐶

Foster Friday Update – Jellybean
Jellybean (Hunter’s sibling) is thriving and doing well at showing Hunter the ropes!

Foster Friday Update – Bianca
Bianca, our super shy girl, has truly blossomed! She came out of her shell, learned to love her dog siblings, and even kept everyone guessing with her sneaky nighttime “redecorating.” Nowadays she’s sleeping peacefully in the bedroom with her owner (door closed!) and has officially gone to her forever home!

Foster Friday Update – Hunter
Hunter is doing great and also has officially moved into a foster to adopt! She now has a dog sibling to share life with and is settling in beautifully 💚

Happy Valentine’s Day! Today we wanted to do a short feature on our newest to the adoption program - Quebec! Quebec came to us earlier this week after he sustained a luxation of one of his proximal intertarsal joints. He recently received care and has been healing up quite well and he has been settling in well with his OSU vet student foster 🐶

We also wanted to give a thank you to OSU students and staff who purchased greyhound “kisses” candy grams - B4G ended up raising over $150 for the club!

Today’s short foster friday pupdate is about our new girl Bianca 🐶 Bianca is a shy lady who is slowly but surely learning to come out of her shell. She has a long road ahead of her with B4G but everyday she is making more and more process with her injury and confidence!

We hope everyone had a fabulous holiday season! We have all been pretty busy with family, friends and holiday fun but the care at the hospital by the doctors and support staff remains dedicated to top-notch care!

We are ready to start the new year by introducing a couple of greyhounds that have joined our program recently.

First up we have Billy. Billy is a 2 1/2 year old brindle male. Not cat safe. Has a big puppy personality. Billy is doing well in his foster home and healing nicely.

Then we have Bianca. She just turned 2 on January 11th. Bianca is a black female who may be cat-correctable. She is a shy and timid girl who is slowly becoming more comfortable in her foster home. Her current foster can only care for her until the 26th of January so WE ARE LOOKING FOR A FOSTER FAMILY who can care for her and show this sweet girl what life outside of her amazing track family has to offer. Columbus area foster home needed. Please contact [email protected] for more information on Bianca.
