Even a small cut or wound can attract unwanted pests. That's why it's important to check your pets regularly, especially during the warmer months. The New World screwworm is a parasite that can infest wounds on dogs, cats, livestock, wildlife, and other warm-blooded animals. Staying informed and addressing wounds promptly can make all the difference.

Experts recommend:

Check your pet regularly for cuts, scrapes, or unusual wounds.
Clean and monitor any wounds as they heal.
Keep your pet up to date on routine veterinary care and parasite prevention.
Contact your veterinarian right away if you notice a wound that worsens quickly, has a foul odor, or contains visible larvae.

Caldwell Veterinary Clinic is open one Saturday each month to provide our clients with additional appointment availability.

Our September Saturday will be:

🕗 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM

We are otherwise open Monday–Friday during our regular business hours from 7:30-5:30 (Closed for lunch from 12:00-1:00).

Appointments are available by scheduling in advance. Call Caldwell Veterinary Clinic to reserve your pet’s appointment.

🐾🥏 **Friday Fun at the Clinic!** 🥏🐾

We had a little game of frisbee going in our waiting area this afternoon! Sweet Panda brought along her favorite toy and was more than happy to show us how much she loves her frisbee. 💕🐶

Panda also came in with her kitty cat family members for their annual checkups, and we were so happy to see the whole crew!

We hope everyone has a **playful, happy, and safe weekend** filled with plenty of fun and lots of love! 🐾❤️

Planning to travel out of state with your dog or pet bird after August 3? New World Screwworm has changed the rules. You will need NWS inspection documents from your veterinarian before you go. Pet cats are not affected. Talk to your veterinarian soon so you are ready in time.

We had a mighty big patient this morning!
