Did someone say CHEESE?

Meet Cali! This 6-year-old Cane Corso is learning how to navigate the world after an injury resulted in the amputation of her front leg. But don’t let that slow this girl down. Cali is ready to make friends and have fun!

Cali loooooves meeting new people, getting snuggles, enjoying snacks and toys, and she is a total sucker for belly rubs. She’s an affectionate, playful gal who loves being part of the action.

Cali is also looking for an adopter who will help her continue learning polite ways to ask for what she wants using strictly positive reinforcement techniques. She’s looking to be the only pet in her home for now, but we think she could be successful living with kids who are excited to participate in her journey.

Chewy is looking for someone who understands that good things take time.

At 12 years old, Chewy has learned exactly what she likes, and she’s not afraid to let you know it! This sweet senior lady is looking for an experienced cat person who understands that trust isn’t something you can rush. Give Chewy the time and space to get comfortable, and you’ll get to see the playful, fun-loving cat underneath her initially reserved exterior.

Once she feels safe, Chewy loves playing with toy mice, feather toys, and catnip. She’s also looking for a calm, quiet home where she can settle in at her own pace. Chewy would prefer to be the only cat in the household and is likely happiest without young children. She has lived with a dog before and may be able to share her home with a canine companion again with a slow, thoughtful introduction.

Chewy came into our care having been declawed and has some litter box challenges, so her ideal adopter will be patient and understanding of her unique needs. She’s looking for someone who will meet her where she is and give her the time she needs.

If you’re an experienced cat person looking for a senior companion who has plenty of personality waiting to come out, Chewy may be your girl. She’s been waiting for someone willing to see the wonderful cat she is. Give her the chance to show you!!

Day 5 of posting Clarice until she finds a forever home!

Clarice is a star- she was featured today on Furever Friday with Ray Villeda Boston 25! This beautiful 4 yr old velvet hippo wants to be the star in YOUR home. She is dog friendly and loves people. She’s up for a good wrestle with a doggo friend and then down to snuggle.

When Zico, a 3-month-old Bernedoodle became unusually tired, lost interest in food, and developed stomach upset, his family knew something wasn’t right.

At his primary care vet, Zico’s bloodwork showed severe abnormalities in his kidney and liver values. This led to an urgent referral to Angell, where he was diagnosed with leptospirosis, a potentially life-threatening bacterial infection that can affect both humans and animals. It’s especially prevalent this time of year due to warmer temperatures and rainfall, which create ideal conditions for the bacteria to survive, and pets also spending more time outdoors.

Zico’s team acted quickly, starting hemodialysis to give his kidneys time to recover. This treatment removes harmful waste from the blood when the kidneys aren’t working, much like in humans. After a couple of days in our ICU, he began to show steady signs of improvement.

Thanks to his family’s quick recognition that something wasn’t right and the dedication of his medical team, Zico is getting ready to go home. His kidney values are now normal!!! Great job, Zico!!!

We’re very fortunate at the MSPCA-Angell to have access to advanced care and be able to help animals like Zico overcome serious illnesses so they can be reunited with those who love them.

We don’t often share a behind-the-scenes look at the patients receiving treatment at our Larson Kelly Community Clinic in Boston, but our incredible clinic team is always hard at work helping both homeless animals and pets with families. These are just some of our current patients.

Our team at the MSPCA-Boston works closely with the City of Boston’s Animal Care and Control. When a stray cat is found sick or injured in Boston, we take them into our care, cover the cost of their treatment and work to find their family. If reunification efforts are unsuccessful, we find them a home when the time comes. We of course help cats from other cities and towns, too!

This lifesaving work is supported in part by the Catvocates, a group of dedicated volunteer leaders who have been raising funds for cat-focused initiatives at the MSPCA-Angell since 2011. Their support began with cat adoption promotions and spay-neuter programs and has since expanded to include critical medical care for cats who need it most.

It’s also made possible by donors like you. Your donation helps ensure that when a sick or injured cat arrives at our door, our team can give them the care they deserve.

Want to help in another way? Consider fostering an adult cat who needs a little more time and medical support, or adopt one of the healthy cats currently waiting for a home. Every adoption makes room for us to say “yes” to another cat in need.

This special little guy has been through a lot, but you’d never know it from that wagging tail and sweet soft gaze. It truly took a village to get Bucky where he is today.

Bucky was first spotted wandering in the woods in South Carolina with a bucket stuck on his head. Concerned community members quickly formed an impromptu search-and-rescue team, driving around neighborhoods and hiking through woods until they finally found and captured him. They removed the bucket and brought him to safety at Charleston Animal Society’s Berkeley Campus.

Through our ongoing transport partnership with Charleston Animal Society, Bucky made the journey all the way to Massachusetts. Now, we’ve been entrusted with the next step of his journey: helping him find a family!

At approximately seven months old, Bucky is a sweet-as-can-be hound mix. He’s a “liquid dog” who will happily melt into your lap, but he also has plenty of spring in his step when it’s time to play.

Bucky is a truly wonderful pup, and we’re so glad we could be part of the village that helped him reach this point. Now, all he needs is a home of his own! Carrots is looking for a soft place to land after a very rough beginning.

She was found by a concerned family who discovered her on their porch with blood on her body and matted fur. They were able to get her into a carrier and bring her to a veterinary clinic for help.

We’re fortunate to be both an animal shelter and a veterinary hospital, which means we can provide high-quality care for homeless animals and then help them find loving homes. When the veterinary clinic reached out to ask if we could take Carrots, of course we said yes!

Carrots was suffering from pyometra, a serious uterine infection that can quickly become fatal without treatment. Fortunately, the treatment is spay surgery, and we were able to perform the procedure immediately after she arrived.

Critical feline medical care like this is supported by the Catvocates, a dedicated group of volunteer leaders who raise funds for cat-focused initiatives at the MSPCA-Angell. We’re so grateful for their commitment to helping cats like Carrots receive the care they need.

These days, Carrots is feeling much, much better and is ready to find a home of her own! She may look a little rough around the edges, but we suspect she’s a young cat, only about two years old, with a whole soft-girl life ahead of her!

Moo Moo is the ultimate skill test for the cat-savvy adopter. She will love you if you’re pure of heart. She’s like a beautiful work of art in a museum: You can look all you want, but please don’t touch!

Moo Moo is a beautiful 10-year-old long-haired tuxedo cat who came to us 192 days ago after her previous family sadly lost their housing. Since then, she has slowly but surely been making friends—and foes.

Here’s what we’ve learned about Moo Moo: She loves chicken-flavored Temptations. She likes watching you through the window with her big, beautiful pale green eyes. She will rub against you to pet HERSELF, but you may not do the petting. You can passively participate in the act of Moo Moo petting herself, but you cannot be an active petter. Unless, of course, you’re using a long back scratcher. Those are acceptable.

Once you’ve earned Moo Moo’s trust, she’ll reveal her playful side. The tricky thing about our Moo girl is that she needs a cat-savvy adopter and a home without other cats. But we know the right person, the one who will be completely charmed by her antics. is out there.

If you’re looking for a beautiful, independent queen with plenty of personality, a playful spirit, and exactly the right amount of sass, Moo Moo may be the perfect lady to rule your castle!
