24+ years caring for dogs. ā¤ļø Pups N Paradise was originally established in 2011 in a trendy city called Jamaica Plain, a suburb of Boston. The owner Jeniffer decided to sell her business in 2015 and start her life all over again here in beautiful Fort Myers Florida. Pups N Paradise came about with a dream of living in a tropical paradise with her brood of American bullies. 2022 she happy to say her dreams came true and brought back PNP. With 20+ years of experience and working with some of the best groomers in the country , her skill set excels in all breeds, scissor work, pet safe color, and hand stripping. She is truly passionate with creating a calm and loving atmosphere for you and your pets. We do not accept walk ins. We work with one family at a time to ensure a tranquil experience. Pets are never caged and are worked on straight through. No more sitting and waiting all day ! My thought process with dogs that have arthritis is never ā€œHow fast can I get this done?ā€ Itā€™s ā€œHow safely, comfortably, and efficiently can we complete this?ā€
I always like having conversations with pet parents beforehand to go over how previous grooms went, hear about any medications theyā€™re taking, and discuss any mobility limits. That way, weā€™re both completely on the same page.
The goal is never to rush through a groomā€”and pet parents donā€™t want that anyway. Setting clear expectations lets me deliver quality work while giving the dog a peaceful experience where sheā€™s never rushed or forced into uncomfortable positions. Comfort and safety always come first. šŸ¾

When this sweet girl first arrived, her anxiety was high. She was pacing, nervous, and couldnā€™t settle. In a quiet, 1-on-1 environment without the loud chaos of a big salon, she was able to decompress.
By the end of her transformational poodle trim, her whole energy shifted. She came over for cuddles and even settled down for a peaceful nap! šŸ˜“ā¤ļø

Today my body was DONE. šŸ˜‚

I was in the middle of grooming this Standard Poodle and could feel myself running on empty.

And instead of trying to push through and give her whatever scraps of energy I had leftā€¦

I stopped.

Put on an angry rock song.
Jumped around.
Raged. šŸ˜‚
Got my energy back.

And then she joined me.

Tail wagging.
Paws flying.
Jumping around like she was ready to rage right alongside me. šŸ˜‚

And I thoughtā€¦

THIS.

This is what co-regulation can look like.

Not me trying to force her to be calm.

Not me pretending Iā€™m fine when Iā€™m not.

Me taking responsibility for my own energy first.

Because if I want to give her my best, I have to be willing to give myself what I need too.

And apparently what I needed today was a little angry rock + a Standard Poodle mosh pit. šŸ¤˜šŸ©šŸ˜‚

The best energy I can give the dogs I care for starts with taking care of my own.
