We are Denny and Susan Wright, and we are the owners and operators of Th

e Wright Way Farm. Located five miles west of Beloit and fifteen miles southwest of Janesville in the sandy soils of southwest Rock County, we are dedicated to promoting local and sustainable agriculture. Seeing deer, hawks, eagles, and coyotes are commonplace on our farm, and we share our space with the natural world. The wind blows steadily over the fields, making the amber waves of grain dance playfully in late July. We wake in the spring and summer to the beautiful pastels of the early morning sun while the sweet chorus of orioles, red-winged blackbirds, and robins, serenade us over breakfast. We fall asleep to the songs of crickets and bull frogs as we collapse into our pillows with the evening breeze playing a symphony on our wind chimes on the front porch. In this environment, we cannot help but grow wholesome organic food. Starting with only a dream in 2005, we started The Wright Way Farm so that we could share the good things that come out of clean, healthy, and cruelty-free living. All of our vegetables are grown using organic practices and we are certified with MOSA. Many of our vegetables are heirloom varieties, providing you with the best tasting vegetables available. Great care is taken to not only grow healthy food, but to harvest and store the vegetables properly, ensuring the best possible culinary experience, and maintaining the maximum amount of nutrition as is possible. The road that our food travels from field to table is short minimizing the environmental impact of meals produced on our farm. We look forward to sharing this experience with you, and we welcome you to come visit us during the season. Our family consists of 4 children, 6 grandchildren, 3 dogs, 4 cats, and of course our chickens, pig, cow and goat.

Amorin and Pam are planting watermelons in the plastic, and the broccoli is doing well, despite the recent heat. We will be at La Grange Farmers Market tomorrow with our garden plants and early market produce.

With the short week, we had a lot of work to do before our Wednesday Edgebrook Farmers Market. We put down plastic last week for the melons that we transplanted today in the field.

The animals are fed, the truck is loaded, and the farmers are headed to bed soon. We will be at the La Grange Farmers Market in the morning and every Thursday this summer. Come see what all your farmers are bringing to your local market, and while you are there, enjoy the food and value-added products from local businesses, and enjoy a breakfast or lunch at one of the many downtown restaurants in LaGrange, Il!

We got a trailerload of peppers planted in the field this afternoon before packing our truck for the Wednesday Edgebrook Farmers Market. These delicious sweet peppers will help fill our CSA boxes and market tables in about two months.

While Faith the goat can't attend the Rockford Edgebrook Farmers Market tomorrow, she doesn't want you to miss out on the lettuce, spinach, arugula, and plants for your garden. Though she wishes she were there, she has some lying around in the sun to do.

How many cabbage, broccoli, kohlrabi, and brussel sprouts do you see? Since it has been ten days since the last rain, they were happy that we irrigated them today.

Today was potato day, as we cut up our seed potatoes for planting next week. Also, our greenhouses are overflowing with hardened off garden plants that we will be bringing to market this weekend to Beloit Farmers Market and Jefferson Park Sunday Market. If you get to market early enough, you will also have the opportunity to get some early season lettuce and spinach!
