🐾 Let’s Talk About the “Bad Dogs” of Grooming! 🐾
Here at Yogurt and Friends Dog Grooming, we believe that every dog deserves a chance. ❤️
The dogs who wiggle nonstop, bark, growl, snap, hate their feet touched, or act like the grooming table is their worst enemy? They’re welcome here, too! 🐶
Here’s the thing… There’s a difference between a bad dog and a dog that’s having a hard time. ❤️
Some dogs are scared. Some have had bad experiences. Some are overstimulated, uncomfortable, or simply haven’t learned that grooming doesn’t have to be scary.
We will NEVER turn a dog away simply because they’re difficult to groom. Our only exception is when the situation becomes unsafe for the dog or myself. Safety will ALWAYS come before finishing a groom.
✂️ Sometimes that means the haircut won’t be perfect.
Maybe we don’t get those feet completely finished. Maybe the face isn’t as round as we’d like. Maybe we take extra breaks, change our approach, or decide that we’ve accomplished enough for one day.
And you know what? THAT’S OKAY!
I’d rather send your dog home with an imperfect haircut and a positive experience than push them beyond their limits just to achieve a picture-perfect groom.
But here’s where YOU come in! 🏡❤️
Progress is a TEAM EFFORT!
Regular grooming appointments, consistency, positive reinforcement, and practicing things like brushing, handling paws, touching ears, and standing calmly at home can make a HUGE difference.
We can’t expect a dog to become comfortable with grooming overnight, and we can’t expect progress if grooming only happens every few months.
Some dogs will take weeks. Others may take months. Some may never love every part of the process, and that’s okay too.
Our goal isn’t perfection. It’s PROGRESS. 🐾
Every little victory matters. Whether that’s allowing one extra nail to be trimmed, standing calmly for a few more minutes, or simply walking through our door with a little less fear.
We celebrate those wins here!
So if you’ve ever been told your dog is “bad” for grooming, please don’t be embarrassed to reach out.
We’re willing to put in the work if you are, too. 💜
