🐾 Employee Spotlight & Farewell: Raine Zugel 🐾

This month, we're celebrating Veterinary Assistant Raine Zugel as she prepares for her next adventure!

Raine has been a valued member of the PetWellClinic-Highland Park team for more than a year. Before joining us, she worked in a variety of animal care roles, driven by a lifelong passion for helping animals and the people who love them. One of her favorite parts of the job has been building relationships with pet parents and helping keep their pets happy and healthy.

Recently, Raine graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Art & Design and will soon begin a new role with a local photography studio. While we're sad to see her go, we're excited to see where this next chapter takes her!

When she's not working, Raine enjoys birding, wildlife photography, and spending time with her own pets—two cats and seven crested geckos.

🐾💙 Furry Friend Feature: Meet Roxy! 💙🐾

Everyone say hello to Roxy, the adorable 2.5-month-old mixed breed puppy! 😍

Roxy recently stopped by PetWellClinic - Highland Park for her puppy wellness care, and she quickly stole the hearts of our team with her sweet personality and those puppy-dog eyes. 🐶✨

The first few months of a puppy's life are an important time for building a foundation of good health. Regular wellness visits, vaccines, and parasite prevention help keep puppies protected while they grow, learn, and explore the world around them.

Roxy was a perfect patient during her visit, soaking up all the attention and showing off just how lovable she is. We can't wait to watch her continue to grow and thrive!

🐾💙 Furry Friend Feature: Meet Dax! 💙🐾

Can we all take a moment to appreciate those ears?! 😍

This handsome 2-month-old German Shepherd puppy stopped by PetWellClinic - Highland Park last week for his puppy vaccines and to get started on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Keeping up with preventive care early in life helps give puppies like Dax the best start possible and protects them as they grow, explore, and get into all kinds of puppy mischief. 🐶

Dax was an absolute star during his visit, winning over our team with his sweet personality and adorable puppy charm. We can't wait to watch him grow and see him back for his next wellness visit!

Today, we’re celebrating and thanking Ahlayna Calhoun as she prepares for her final day with PetWellClinic - Highland Park tomorrow, June 12.

Over the past year, Ahlayna has been an important part of our team, providing compassionate care to countless pets and helping create a welcoming experience for their families. Her dedication, hard work, and positive attitude have made a lasting impact on our clinic, our patients, and her teammates.

A proud graduate of Southern University and A&M College, Ahlayna has brought both knowledge and heart to her role as a Veterinary Assistant. Whether assisting with patient care, supporting pet parents, or lending a helping hand wherever needed, she has embodied the values that make our clinic special.

📢 Early Closure Notice – Investing in Better Care for Your Pets 🐾

At PetWellClinic Highland Park, one of our core values is Growth—a commitment to continually learning, improving, and finding new ways to provide the best possible care for the pets and families we serve.

To support that commitment, Dr. Ryan and members of our team will be attending a veterinary continuing education event on Tuesday, June 9th. As a result, we will be closing early at 6:00 PM that day.

Continuing education allows our team to stay current on the latest advancements in veterinary medicine, preventive care, diagnostics, and treatment options. The knowledge and skills we gain directly benefit our patients by helping us provide the highest quality care and recommendations possible.

Thank you for your understanding as we invest in professional development and continued growth. We look forward to bringing back valuable insights that help us better serve you and your pets.

🌟 EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: Meet Alyssa! 🌟

We’re excited to officially congratulate Alyssa Ligon on earning her Associate’s Degree in Veterinary Technology and stepping into her new role as Lead Technician at PetWellClinic-Highland Park! 🎉🐾

Alyssa’s journey into veterinary medicine started with a passion for animals at a young age. In fact, she says she’s been telling people she wanted to work in veterinary medicine since she was just 3 years old! After working at a boarding facility while entering vet tech school, she transitioned into clinical practice and has continued building her skills and knowledge every step of the way.

One of the things Alyssa loves most about being a veterinary technician is that every day is different and there is always something new to learn. That dedication to growth, combined with her compassion for pets and their families, makes her an incredible asset to our team.

Looking ahead, Alyssa hopes to help change the way people view veterinary medicine and serve as an example to other minority youth interested in careers in animal care and veterinary medicine. ❤️

When she’s not caring for patients, you can find her playing video games, shooting pool, spending time outdoors, or wishing she had the power of teleportation so she could skip Baton Rouge traffic altogether!

Everyone say hello to Delta! 💙 This adorable 3.5-month-old German Shorthaired Pointer is currently working her way through her Puppy Package at PetWellClinic-Highland Park.

The first few months of a puppy’s life are some of the most important when it comes to building a strong foundation for lifelong health. Puppy vaccine series help protect against serious and highly contagious diseases while their immune systems are still developing. 🐶💉

Delta’s parents are also keeping her protected on monthly prevention — which is especially important here in Louisiana, where heartworm disease and flea/tick exposure rates remain high year-round.
