🐾 MEET LARRY 🦊❤️

Larry is a 1-year-old Red Fox Lab who has arrived at The Dog People with an impressive résumé of questionable life choices. 😂

Larry enjoys:
✨ Escaping — because boundaries are merely suggestions
✨ Jumping — all four paws on the floor is overrated
✨ Pulling on leash — he has places to BE
✨ Putting absolutely everything in his mouth
✨ Eating pillows — apparently they’re a delicacy
✨ Hu***ng — we’re not going to talk about it
✨ Cats — ❌ 0/10, would not recommend
✨ Smaller dogs — jury is still out 👀

Basically, Larry is a teenage Lab with zero impulse control and enough confidence to make his own rules. 😂

He’s here to work on leash manners, boundaries, impulse control, recall, appropriate interactions with other animals, and most importantly… learning that not everything needs to go in his mouth.

Teddy has been putting in the work! 👏🐾

The other day, we took his training to Country Junction, where he practiced holding a duration down right in the middle of everything going on around him.

We also teamed up with Kelsy from Pawsability Unleashed so both dogs could work alongside each other—adding another level of distraction while still being expected to stay calm, focused, and tuned in to their handler.

For a dog who can be anxious and easily distracted, this is exactly the kind of practice that helps build confidence and better decision-making. Instead of worrying about everything happening around him, Teddy is learning that he can look to his person for guidance and just relax. 💙

Good dogs aren’t made in quiet rooms—they’re built by practicing in the real world. 🐕

A relaxed down in the middle of a busy Country Junction might not look like a huge deal—but for this guy, it absolutely is. 🐾

He’s a highly anxious Shepherd who, in the past, let that anxiety lead to some not-so-great choices when he felt overwhelmed or unsure.

Now, instead of feeling like he has to make those decisions on his own, he’s learning to look to his person for guidance. He’s learning that he doesn’t have to worry about everything happening around him. He can trust his handler to take the lead.

Being able to settle, hold a down, and simply watch the world go by in a busy environment is a HUGE step for an anxious dog. ❤️

Training isn’t just about commands—it’s about building communication, confidence, and trust.

COURTESY POST — LILLIE IS LOOKING FOR A NEW HOME 🐾❤️

Meet Lillie, a 5-year-old Border Collie/Blue Heeler mix looking for a home that can give her the time, exercise, and mental stimulation she needs to thrive.

Lillie is a very sweet and loving girl with lots of energy. She can be reactive and timid when first meeting new people and dogs, so she’ll need someone willing to give her time to warm up and feel comfortable.

🐾 About Lillie:

* 5-year-old Border Collie/Blue Heeler mix
* Good with kids, but she is energetic and may jump
* Has lived around cats in the past and did well with them
* Can be timid/reactive with new people and dogs
* High-energy and needs plenty of physical exercise and mental stimulation
* Has anxiety that can lead to destructive behavior
* Currently takes anxiety medication
* Currently being treated for Lyme disease
* Will be up to date on boosters and spayed

Lillie would benefit from an active, patient home that understands herding breeds and is prepared to help her work through her anxiety while giving her an appropriate outlet for all that energy.

🐾 Welcome Rudi! 🐾

Meet Rudi, an 11-month-old Lab mix who just joined us for training! He’s right in the middle of that teenage puppy stage and is here to work on some typical puppy behaviors. 😂

We’ll be focusing on better manners, improving his listening skills, working through distractions, and helping him learn to make better choices as he grows up.

Rudi is a sweet, happy boy, and we’re excited to see what he can accomplish! 🐶💙

Odin, the 14-month-old Cane Corso, is working hard on learning that big body = big manners! 😂 This goofy boy is trading his bull-in-a-china-shop energy for better listening, self-control, and all-around good behavior. 🐾💪

🐾 Meet Teddy! 🐾

Teddy is a 3-year-old German Shepherd who just joined us for his Board & Train! This handsome guy is a big fan of his dad… maybe a little too much. 😂 Teddy has started guarding dad from mom and their daughter, and he tends to take dad a lot more seriously than the rest of the family.

While he’s here, we’ll be working on creating better boundaries within the family, building consistent obedience no matter who is giving the commands, and teaching Teddy that listening still applies when distractions are around. His leash skills aren’t too bad when things are quiet, so we’ll be building on that as we add more distractions. We’ll also be learning more about how he responds around other animals as we go.

Time to get to work, Teddy! 💪🏼🐾

Meet Tater! 🐶💕

This 9-month-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is joining us to work through all of those fun (and sometimes frustrating) puppy stages. Tater is a sweet girl, but she has a habit of taking off if given the chance, is still working on potty training, thinks just about everything belongs in her mouth, and has definitely mastered the art of begging for food.

We’ll also be focusing on her barking, building her confidence around other dogs, and turning all that puppy energy into good manners and reliable obedience.

We can’t wait to show you Tater’s progress over the next few weeks—follow along for her journey! 🐾

Meet Blue! 🐾

Blue is a 7-year-old Dachshund/Staffy mix who’s ready to trade his worries for confidence. Whether it’s making a run for it if given the chance, feeling anxious in the kennel, or getting stressed during thunderstorms and even smoke alarms, life can be a little overwhelming for this guy. He’s also working on building a reliable recall, staying comfortable while away from his family (without skipping meals!), and improving his potty habits so accidents become a thing of the past.

We’re excited to help Blue gain confidence, learn new skills, and become a calmer, more reliable companion. Stay tuned to follow his journey! 💙🐶

🐶 Puppy consult day!
