I’m SO incredibly proud of each of these graduates, but I’m equally proud of the people standing beside them. Meaningful change doesn’t happen overnight, and it certainly doesn’t happen without commitment from both ends of the leash. The consistency, patience, and willingness to learn are what turn dog training into lasting change.

Thank you for trusting me to be a part of your training journey! Watching you grow together is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

This summer has been a BUSY one here at Dunmore Barks, helping dogs and their people build better communication, make longlasting changes, and find a rhythm that actually works for real life.

From puppyhood to big feelings, we’ve been putting in the work, overcoming challenges, celebrating wins (big or small!), and watching so many dog-human teams find their groove.

Proofing is the process of teaching your dog to perform a desired behavior consistently across various levels of distance, duration, and distraction. It’s what ensures real-word reliability!

Practicing obedience in the situations where it matters most can be the difference between having an obedient dog, and a dog who makes good decisions on their own.

✅✅ Proofing real-life skills for real-life situations teaches the dog how to use that structure in everyday life.

HUGE news!

WE’RE OFFICIALLY OPEN TOMORROW!!!!

After a very long road, Steamtown Veterinary Center will officially open our doors tomorrow!!!

Beginning tomorrow, 08/22/2026, we’ll be here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

For anyone who is new to our page, Steamtown Veterinary Center is a privately owned veterinary hospital created to provide Northeastern Pennsylvania with emergency veterinary care when your pet is sick, injured, or needs immediate care.

We are not here to replace your regular veterinarian. We’re here to work alongside the amazing general practices in our community by providing emergency and urgent care, hospitalization, surgery, diagnostics, and continued care when your regular veterinarian may not be available.

Our hospital is equipped for:
• Emergency and urgent veterinary care
• 24 hour hospitalization and monitoring
• Emergency and urgent surgery
• Soft tissue surgery
• Dentistry, dental radiographs, and oral surgery
• Digital X-rays
• Ultrasound
• In house laboratory testing
• Oxygen support and critical care
• And more

For now, we will primarily be seeing dogs and cats. We may have veterinarians working who have a special interest or experience in exotic animal medicine. When those doctors are scheduled, we’ll let everyone know that exotic appointments or emergencies may be available during those specific shifts.

At this time, we do not have any exotic focused shifts scheduled, so for now, please consider us a dogs and cats only hospital unless we announce otherwise.

Starting tomorrow, if your pet needs us, we’re here, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Happy 2nd birthday, Dunmore Barks!!!🦌🐾

It started with a vision, a lot of excitement, and plenty I still had to figure out. Since then, it’s grown into something I’m incredibly proud to call mine.

I’ve had the privilege of working with hundreds of dogs and their people, helping them better understand one another, work through the hard stuff, celebrate the little wins, and build stronger relationships that make life better, together.

Along the way, I took another crazy leap and purchased a studio location for Dunmore Barks to call home. It’s now ALSO home to four colorful pet friends who’ve made my corner of Dunmore a hometown landmark.🎨🐶🐱

This journey hasn’t always been easy, but I’m so grateful for every hard day that made me better, and every good day that reminds me why I started.

From the bottom of my dog-loving heart, thank you to everyone who has supported Dunmore Barks, trusted me, recommended me, cheered me on, or simply followed along.

I feel incredibly lucky to get to do what I love, in the community I love, with the dogs and people who make it all worthwhile.

I promise to be your hometown dog trainer for as long as you’ll have me.🫶🏼

At Dunmore Barks, dog training is so much more than teaching obedience.

Sure, I can teach “sit” and “down” until the cows come home.

But can your dog make good decisions without your constant micro-management?

Can they settle when guests are over?
Can they self-soothe when they’re left alone?
Can they stay chill when the squirrel is out there shaking its ass in the front yard?

Those are the moments that matter.
Real-life learning and real-world skills.

Look, I’m not in the business of creating robot dogs. I’m in the business of helping dogs learn how to exist in our world, and expanding theirs through education, enrichment, and adventure.

I teach them to think instead of react.
Work through frustration instead of shutting down.
Settle instead of scanning the environment for the next dopamine hit.
Have fun and be goofy, but understand rules and boundaries.

Obedience is part of what I do, but it’s not what makes me a good dog trainer. My goal is to help you and your dog understand each other through clear communication, mutual trust, and a relationship that naturally leads to an obedient dog.
