๐Ÿพ System Update Reminder ๐Ÿพ

Dear Clients,

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we transition to our new system.

As we work towards going live, routine requests may take a little longer than usual to process. If you need to contact us regarding anything non-urgent, such as routine vaccinations, repeat prescriptions, or general enquiries, we would appreciate it if you could get in touch over the next couple of days.

Please be assured that emergency and urgent cases will continue to be prioritised as normal.

Thank you for your support during this exciting change! ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ“ข Important Notice for Repeat Prescriptions

Dear Clients,

We're currently in the process of moving over to our new system and will be going live on Tuesday 29th September.

If your pet requires any repeat medication, please submit your prescription request this week where possible. We will have very limited access to our system on Monday and Tuesday, which may affect our ability to process requests promptly.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we make this exciting transition! ๐Ÿพ

๐Ÿพ Patient Success Story: Meet Peach! ๐Ÿพ

We are delighted to share a wonderful update about Peach, an adorable Golden Retriever puppy who recently spent several days in our hospital battling parvovirus.

When Peach was admitted, she was very poorly and required intensive supportive care from our veterinary surgeons and nursing team. During her stay, she received around-the-clock treatment, including a plasma transfusion, along with continuous monitoring and plenty of love and TLC from everyone looking after her.

We're thrilled to report that all the hard work paid off, and Peach has made a fantastic recovery. ๐ŸŽ‰ She is now back home enjoying what she does best: being a happy, playful puppy!

Peach's recovery is a great example of the advanced level of care available at Calder Vets. From intensive inpatient treatment and transfusion therapy to dedicated veterinary and nursing support, our team is equipped to care for even the most challenging cases.

We're so pleased to see Peach back to her happy, cheeky self and wish her many years of adventures ahead. ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿพ

๐Ÿพ Important Notice for Our Clients ๐Ÿพ
On 8th and 9th September, our teams will be taking part in a large training event across all of our clinics and hospital.
As a result, some sites may have reduced opening hours or partial closures during these two days. If you need to collect medication, please give your local clinic a call before travelling to ensure the site is open and your medication is ready for collection.
Please don't worry if you need us urgently. Dewsbury will remain open for emergencies throughout the training event, so support will still be available if required.
Thank you for your understanding while we invest in training and development for our teams. โค๏ธ๐Ÿพ

๐Ÿ’ฆSee what a hydrotherapy session can look like ๐Ÿ’ฆ
This dog has had TPLO (Tibial Plateau Levelling Osteotomy) surgery on both hind limbs. This operation is an orthopaedic operation used to fix torn cranial cruciate ligaments in dogs. This stops the knee from sliding and lets the dog walk stably ๐Ÿพ
We use hydrotherapy in cases like this to help rebuild muscle and reduce joint swelling with minimal weight-bearing stress. As you can see Sydney loves his sessions ๐Ÿคฉ
Hydrotherapy can be used to help improve lots of conditions. If you feel your dog is slowing down or something isnโ€™t quite right, talk to your vet who will happily discuss if physiotherapy and/or hydrotherapy is a possibility.

Osteoarthritis๐Ÿพ

Did you know that 80% of dogs over 8 years old have osteoarthritis?

It's not just a condition seen in older dogs either. Up to 35% of dogs of all ages can be affected.

Signs of OA include:

๐Ÿถ Reluctance to walk
๐Ÿถ Limping or lameness
๐Ÿถ Hesitation when using stairs
๐Ÿถ Difficulty getting comfortable
๐Ÿถ Panting
๐Ÿถ Sleeping more than usual
๐Ÿถ Licking joints
๐Ÿถ Changes in posture
๐Ÿถ Behavioural changes
๐Ÿถ Reduced tolerance to handling
๐Ÿถ Changes in coat condition
๐Ÿถ Low mood

๐Ÿพ Have you noticed any of these signs in your dog?

Many owners assume these changes are simply part of getting older, but they can be signs of chronic pain.

๐Ÿ“… Book an appointment with your vet for an assessment and discuss whether veterinary physiotherapy could help improve your dog's comfort, mobility and quality of life.

Willow's Story ๐Ÿ’œ

Willow came to Calder Vets, Wakefield, after her owners noticed a large tumour growing on her hip. At around the size of an orange, it was understandably a worrying discovery. Further investigation revealed it to be a challenging sarcoma-type tumour.

Having already undergone two major surgeries during her 13 years, Willow's owners were naturally concerned about what lay ahead. Together, we made a plan. The surgery needed to be extensive and a little more complex than usual, but Willow took everything in her stride... especially when liver paste was on offer!

We're delighted to report that Willow has recovered wonderfully. Her surgical site is healing well, and just two weeks later we are happy to sign her off with only occasional monitoring needed going forward.

A huge well done to Willow for being such a fantastic patient, and to her devoted owners for trusting us with her care. We wish her many more happy adventures ahead. ๐Ÿพ
