Our reception team went on a visit to Green pastures, our pet crematorium on Tuesday. I have worked with them for twenty years and supporting a local, trusted company is so important for us and our clients. Here is what they said....
'The caring way that the pets are treated is so dignified and we can absolutely say that when an individual cremation is requested, they get their pet returned to them. They have a beautiful remembrance garden, pond and fields where communal ashes are scattered'.
Thank you Dawn, Neb and the team at Green Pastures for being brilliant and caring.

⚠️ WARNING: DON'T LEAVE YOUR DOG IN A WARM CAR

A parked car can become dangerously hot within minutes—even with the windows slightly open. Please leave your pet safely at home if you can't take them with you. A few minutes could cost a lifetime. Don't risk it, never leave a dog in a hot car.

This week couldn't pass without us re-sharing this message having seen the tragic and utterly heartbreaking consequences that follow. Please, please keep them safe in this weather.

🐰☀️ Help Keep Your Small Pets Cool This Summer! ☀️🐹

With warmer weather arriving, it’s important to make sure our smaller furry friends stay safe and comfortable in the heat.

Rabbits and guinea pigs can struggle in high temperatures, so here are some simple ways to help them stay cool:

💧 Provide plenty of fresh, cool water throughout the day
🌳 Ensure they have access to shade at all times
🧊 Offer cooling tiles, ceramic plates or frozen water bottles wrapped in a towel
🥬 Feed fresh, water-rich greens as part of their normal diet
🌬️ Make sure hutches and enclosures are well ventilated with good airflow

🦔 Don’t forget our garden wildlife too!

Hedgehogs and other wildlife can find hot weather challenging. Leaving out a shallow dish of fresh water in a shaded area can make a huge difference. If you have a wildlife-friendly garden, providing cool, sheltered spots can also help visiting animals escape the heat.

If you’re concerned about your pet during warmer weather or would like advice on keeping them comfortable, our team at Highfields Vets is always happy to help. ☀️🐾
