We are a well-established, local small animal practice, located in the heart of South Derbyshire. We have two sites in the villages of Willington and Etwall.

Our practice ethos is one of traditional values with modern facilities and a forward-thinking team. We pride ourselves in treating every patient as an individual and, as we are a small friendly team, we like that our patients get to know us well! Our team of vets has a varied range of expertise from skin care to surgery and our sister practice, Sarah Smith Cardiology, has two highly trained cardiologists (heart specialists). We have a caring and highly qualified nursing team who are involved in all aspects of our work to help minimise stress and do our best to ensure your pets have a good experience at the vets. We aim to cater for all your pet’s needs so if your animal is particularly anxious about coming to see the vet, we will happily arrange an appointment at quieter times. Our Etwall surgery has separate cat and dog waiting areas and kennels.

Fear doesn't have to be something they simply learn to live with.
There are lots of ways we can support dogs who find noisy events difficult - and the best time to start thinking about that support is before the next noisy night.
Over the coming weeks, we'll be sharing advice to help you recognise the signs of noise anxiety, prepare your dog and know when to ask for help.

✈️ Today, we say “Bon voyage!” to Libby, one of our wonderful nurses, as she sets off on a new adventure in Australia! 🇦🇺

Libby will be greatly missed by everyone at Etwall. She has been a real asset to the team during her time with us, and we’re so grateful for all her hard work and the knowledge she has shared with us.

We wish her all the very best as she starts this exciting new chapter of her life Down Under! 🦘🐨

Important information for local dog owners

We are aware of a social media post circulating about an alleged Giardia outbreak in the Repton area.

We have seen a recent increase in the number of dogs presenting to our practice with gastrointestinal symptoms, including vomiting and diarrhoea. However, we would like to reassure our clients that, to date, we have not had any positive Giardia results from the samples we have tested.

As a precaution, we recommend avoiding contact with other dogs if your dog is unwell, particularly if they have vomiting or diarrhoea.

If you are concerned about your dog’s health or they are showing any signs of gastrointestinal illness, please contact the practice for advice.

This weekend, Raquel has ventured to sunny Miami, Florida, to attend the Feline Medical Veterinary Association Annual Conference! ✈️☀️🐈

She’s spending the weekend learning all things feline, with a particular focus on senior cat care, endocrinology, and infectious disease.

We wish her safe travels home and can’t wait to hear all about everything she’s been learning and bring that knowledge back to our feline patients!

🚧 Roadworks 🚧

Major maintenance work on the A5132 Carriers Road bridge over the A38, near Egginton and Willington, began on Monday and is scheduled to continue until summer 2028.
The works are likely to have a significant impact on local traffic and may affect journeys to both Etwall and Beech Vets.
Please allow extra time when travelling to and from your appointments with us, as there may be delays.
We’ll do everything we can to minimise disruption and appreciate your patience and understanding while these works are ongoing. 💚
