Andy is feeling super sleepy after his sedation to remove this culprit of a grass seed.

🌾 Grass seeds in ears — a painful problem for pets! 🐶🐱

During the warmer months, grass seeds can easily become lodged in a pet’s ear canal. Because they are small, sharp and often barbed, they can work their way deeper into the ear, causing significant pain and inflammation.

🚩 Signs to look out for:

Repeated head shaking

Scratching or pawing at an ear

Holding the head tilted

Redness or discharge from the ear

Crying or reacting when the ear is touched

If you suspect your pet has a grass seed in their ear, please contact your vet promptly. Trying to remove it yourself can push the seed further into the ear or cause injury.

After walks, particularly through long grass, check your pet’s ears, paws and coat carefully. Prevention and early treatment can help avoid a very painful ear problem. 🐾

Look at the beast called Nico, who was in for Castration and microchipping on Monday. Although he looks a bruiser, he was such a softy and Josie struggled to get him to stop purring on his Pre Ga check.

He was an absolute gem all day and a pleasure to have in the kennels.
