New Hope Dog Rescue

New Hope Dog Rescue New Hope Dog Rescue is a registered non-profit and foster-based organization that has been rescuing and re-homing dogs in need since 2003.

OUR MISSION: To provide every dog in our care a safe, foster-based environment, while promoting the human-animal bond through outreach and educational initiatives. We work to address the overpopulation problem and to promote responsible dog ownership. All of the dogs who join our program are partnered with loving and dedicated foster parents who open their homes to these animals in need. Foster fa

milies also help provide the care the dogs require until they can be matched with adoptive, permanent homes. Every dog receives proper medical care while with New Hope. This will range from the basics (vaccinations, deworming, microchip, spay/neuter), while others will require more extensive care (anything from dental work, to corrective surgery, to treatment of skin conditions). Since the organization was founded, New Hope has found loving homes for over 4337 dogs! That is 4337 dogs given a better chance at life, 4337 dogs that had no hope before that were given a new hope and a new chance. In the first year (2003) 29 dogs were adopted into loving homes, in 2023 242 dogs were adopted into new loving homes. This would not be possible without the amazing support of our community and loving families that open their hearts and homes to a dog in need. Whether it is fostering, volunteering, adopting, donating- it makes a world of difference for these dogs and thank you to everyone that has helped make our first 19 years as successful as they have been. All monetary donations will receive a charitable tax receipt (Charitable ).

The Chippendales in April raised an incredible $1,600 for NHDR! 🐾❤️

To make the night even better, we brought in puppies for everyone to enjoy — and let’s just say the pups got LOTS of attention, snuggles, and love from both the Chippendales and all the attendees. 😂🐶

Huge thank you to everyone who came out, supported the cause, and helped make it such a fun night! Here are some of our favourite moments from the event 📸

** Graphic photo warning **
Ruckus arrived in foster care on April 9 in rough shape. At just 10 months old, he'd been beaten up by other dogs, was severely emaciated with a body condition score of 1/9, and was dealing with a grade 3/5 heart murmur and anemia (both likely secondary to his starvation). Without a foster willing to take him in and provide safety, regular meals, and a caring hand, he likely wouldn't be alive today. 🥺

A few weeks in, the progress is remarkable. Two vet visits later, Ruckus has gained weight, his body condition score is up to 3/9, and his playful puppy personality is shining through. He still needs to build muscle, grow his coat back to cover his battle scars, and get neutered with a recheck at the end of May before he's ready for adoption.

Recovery isn't cheap. Vet visits, medications, quality food, and surgeries all add up, and we rely entirely on community support to keep saying "yes" to dogs like Ruckus. If you can chip in, your donation helps us continue caring for dogs when they need us: www.newhoperescue.org/donate

*All donations of $20+ on our website will receive a tax receipt.

We remember Gillian Gratton on the first anniversary of the creation of the Gillian Gratton Memorial Fund. Gillian dedicated a significant portion of her life to protecting and saving animals. She was a business owner in Saskatoon, having spent years training and researching at the WCVM, and provided a loving home to many of her own animals over the years.

Because of New Hope Dog Rescue's Gillian Gratton Memorial Fund, we have been able to:
- Assist a pup with megaesophagus to be able to almost eat like most other pups, and most importantly, stay with her family
- Help 3 families spay their dogs
- Be the solution for dogs with an ear infection, a major dental issue, another with cherry eye repair, one for a behaviour consultation, and another with extended training

The fear and disappointment of losing a family member due to financial constraints have been removed, and we have had the opportunity to remember the kind and generous person Gillian was every time we get to say "yes" to helping in these situations.

We have all lost a selfless friend or family member, like Gillian. We encourage you to make a donation to the Gillian Gratton Memorial Fund in their memory: www.newhoperescue.org/donate

New Arrival: The Bratty Brunch! 🍳🐾 These seven little ones are thriving and are ready for their forever homes. www.newhoperescue.org/available-for-adoption.

While we love watching these puppies grow, taking in a litter of seven is a massive undertaking for our rescue. Before they head off to their new lives, they require a mountain of supplies to stay healthy, clean, and fed.

🚨 We are currently in need of: puppy formula, p*e pads, cleaning supplies, and puppy food. 🚨

If you can donate any of these items, please drop them off at our designated supply locations or check out our Amazon Wishlist www.newhoperescue.org/wishlist. Every bottle of cleaner and bag of food makes a direct impact on the care of these seven "bratty" pups!

Remember when we excitedly announced that Casey was moving from our Guardians of Hope program to our Available for Adoption page? Some of you have noticed that he's no longer on our adoptables page, and it's not the scenario we were hoping for. 😓

Let's rewind: Casey was surrendered to a northern animal rescue with a massive growth on his hind leg. The growth continued to expand to the point that it burst and then continued to grow. That's when we were contacted to help Casey. Since then, Casey has had many medical appointments and treatments. This made us thrilled to announce when he was in high spirits and could start adventuring for his furever home. Since then, Casey hasn't quite been himself. We are waiting for his appointment in June for further assessment at the WCVM.

Rescue work has its ups and downs, and we need you to keep Casey in your thoughts. Help us support Casey with all the medical appointments and care he needs by making a donation: www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/139818
