Surprising fact: formulated isopod feeds like Extra Premium Complete grew from leaf‑litter nutrient mapping—research showed detritivores need specific amino acids, calcium, and microbial prebiotics not reliably found in plain leaves; producing balanced mixes tripled juvenile survival and sped breeding cycles in bioactive setups by stabilizing microflora and nutrient availability.

At Stargazer Exotics we stock and recommend tested isopod diets to boost colony health and breeding success.

Surprising fact: many Vine staples descend from epiphytic aroids and philodendrons that naturally evolved aerial roots and thin leaf cuticles to absorb humidity—over decades growers selected clones with reduced internode length and smaller leaves so the plants stay compact in tiny enclosures without constant pruning, and modern tissue culture made those dwarf, humidity-tolerant traits reliably available to hobbyists!!!

Mossy Branches - Hardwood Branches with Live Moss

Live moss branches for terrariums with lush green moss growing naturally on hardwood

Mossy Branches – Hardwood Branches with Live Moss

Bring the luxurious beauty of the forest into your enclosure with our naturally grown Mossy Hardwood Branches. Each genuine hardwood branch features lush, living Star Moss, with possible other moss varieties occasionally appearing along its length. Gorgeously deep green and richly textured, these branches instantly add depth, colour, and a beautifully established woodland appearance to tropical terrariums, vivariums, and bioactive enclosures.

Every inch of moss has been attached by nature herself. Nothing is artificially glued or placed onto the wood. These live mosses on hardwood branches are sustainably harvested and cultivated on a family-owned property in Arkansas. They go threw a 4 step process(washed, frozen, dried, and rehydrated) to ensure they are safe and ready to use, before being grown in a greenhouse to extreme perfection. Each branch is carefully packaged to help ensure it arrives fresh and in excellent condition.

Because every branch is completely natural, its shape, thickness, colour, moss coverage, and combination of moss species will vary. Some branches may be partially covered, while others may be luxuriously lush and deep green from end to end. Each one is a unique piece of living woodland.

Available Sizes

* Small: Approximately 9–12 inches long

* Large: Approximately 12 inches or longer

Sold individually. Natural variations in shape, diameter, colour, and moss coverage are expected and are part of what makes every Mossy Branch one of a kind.

Mopani Minis

Mopani wood and Mopani driftwood used as aquarium driftwood and driftwood for aquarium hardscapes, nano tanks and planted freshwater aquariums

Mopani Wood Minis

Part of the MiniWoods Collection

Bring the dramatic shapes, dense grain and rich two-tone colouring of authentic Mopani wood into aquariums, terrariums and bioactive tanks with Mopani Wood Minis, part of our MiniWoods Collection. Measuring approximately 2–4.5 inches, these miniature pieces of natural Mopani wood are perfectly sized for small habitats where traditional Mopani roots are simply too large.

Every individually selected piece features its own sculptural combination of twists, knots, arches, hollows, burls and deep grooves. Contrasting golden-tan and reddish-brown tones give this African Mopani wood its distinctive appearance, making every Mopani Mini a functional habitat feature and a miniature work of natural art.

Mopani Wood for Terrariums and Bioactive Tanks

Mopani Wood Minis are an excellent choice for bioactive terrariums, naturalistic vivariums, reptile enclosures and planted bioactive tanks. Arrange these small pieces among live moss, leaf litter, bark, botanicals and tropical plants to create a richly layered forest-floor environment.

Use them as bioactive terrarium wood, terrarium driftwood, natural terrarium wood, terrarium hardscape wood or durable bioactive enclosure decor. Their compact size makes them easy to position beneath plants, partially bury in substrate or combine into miniature roots, arches, caves and bridges.

The naturally twisted surfaces create climbing points, sheltered spaces, visual barriers and areas for exploration. This makes Mopani Minis useful as reptile driftwood, reptile enclosure wood, reptile tank decor and natural habitat enrichment for geckos, frogs, small lizards and other terrarium inhabitants.
