NALA & NIKO — DOUBLE THE DARK, DOUBLE THE FUN!

Meet Nala and Niko, two adorable black kittens who are the LAST of their litter and are ready to find their forever homes! These little shadows are full of playful energy, sweetness, and personality. They may not be the type to curl up in your arms for cuddles or enjoy being carried around, but they have plenty of love to show in their own special ways!

Nala — The Shy Little Shadow

Nala is definitely the shyest of the bunch. She loves running around, playing with her furry friends, and showing off her playful side! Once playtime is over, though, she’s often off to her favourite hiding spot to recharge.

She’s still learning that humans can be pretty great, and her foster is helping her build confidence with quiet, one-on-one time. Nala will need a patient home that understands trust takes time and is happy to let her blossom at her own pace. Behind that shy little face is a sweet, playful girl just waiting for her chance to shine!

Niko — The Playful Little Explorer

Niko is slowly coming out of his shell, and his personality is becoming more adorable by the day! This playful boy loves bounding over things, exploring, and showing off his silly kitten antics. He can be a little shy when meeting new people, but as he grows comfortable, he’ll show you just how sweet and fun he can be.

Niko is looking for a loving, patient home where he can keep building his confidence and enjoy all the adventures kittenhood has to offer!

Can They Go Together? Absolutely! Or Separately!

Nala and Niko can be adopted as a pair or find their own individual forever homes. Whether you welcome one little shadow or two, they’ll need a home that appreciates them for who they are and gives them the time and space to feel safe.

They might not be lap cats just yet, but they’re still full of love, fun, and all the silly antics that make kittens so special!

We’ve got a busy weekend ahead of us!

Our puppies are hoping you can pop by for some snuggles and maybe a new family member.

On site adoptions available, please bring all family members and any dogs living in the house.

Puppies are up to date on vaccines, microchipped and dewormed.
They are eligible for the delayed spay/neuter program.

Adoption fee $600 plus $200 refundable spay/neuter deposit.

🐾❤️ CLARANCE IS LOOKING FOR HIS PERFECT RETIREMENT HOME! ❤️🐾

Meet Clarance, a sweet senior Poodle cross whose exact age is a mystery. What we do know is that this little old man deserves to spend the rest of his life feeling safe, loved, and wanted. 🥹❤️

Now, we aren’t going to sugarcoat things. Clarance isn’t the right dog for everyone, but for the right person, he will be a wonderful companion!

🐾 A few things you need to know about Clarance:

❤️ He has significant separation anxiety. He MUST go to a home where someone is home most of the time. At his age, he deserves peace, not panic.

❤️ Clarance is deaf. When he gets scared or overwhelmed, he can’t hear your reassuring words. Gentle physical contact is what calms him and helps him feel safe. He needs someone who understands that.

❤️ He is house trained, but accidents can happen when he’s nervous. Patience and understanding are a must!

❤️ He can stay in a kennel, but he’d much rather be curled up in bed beside his favourite person.

❤️ He gets along with other dogs, but prefers all the attention for himself! An only-dog home or one with a calm senior dog who respects his space would be best.

💔 Here’s the thing about Clarance…

We don’t know how many years he has left. But we do know he deserves to spend every single one of them being someone’s whole world.

He doesn’t need long walks, big adventures, or a busy household.

He needs a warm bed, a gentle hand, a patient heart, and someone who won’t leave him feeling alone and afraid. ❤️

Clarance may need a little more understanding than some dogs, but doesn’t every senior deserve someone willing to give them that?

🥹 Please help us find Clarance his perfect retirement home.

Next Chapter Animal Rescue League – Annual General Meeting!

We're getting ready for our Annual General Meeting, and we'd love to see you there!

Our AGM is an opportunity to learn more about the rescue, reflect on the past year, and help shape the future of Next Chapter.

We're looking for people who are passionate about animal welfare and interested in helping Next Chapter continue to grow. Whether you have experience serving on a board or are looking for a new way to get involved, we'd love to hear from you!

Membership & Voting

Annual membership dues are $25. Only paid members are eligible to vote in the election of board members.

You don't have to be interested in joining the board to attend! We encourage our supporters, volunteers, fosters, and anyone interested in learning more about Next Chapter to come out.

After all, it takes more than a few people to make a rescue successful.

This is Killer.

This puffball came into our care under circumstances we aren't allowed to disclose...but we do know he was in a situation that was slowly killing him.

His fur was dirty - covered in mud and f***s. So matted, his fur pulled painfully at his skin. He hasn't been groomed quite yet, but our volunteers have done their best at cutting away the worst pelts, and bathing him over and over again, until he started to feel and smell better.

His teeth are even worse. Rotting out, some black, some a deathly gray, some hanging by a thread from pale gums.

His eyes were downcast at first - he wouldn't make eye contact. Wouldn't come out from under the table at his fosters house. Always looking away when anyone paid attention to him - as if hoping that if he looked away, he'd disappear.

But that's the thing about a foster home.

All they do is pay attention. Careful. Patient. Compassionate Attention.

And soon enough, Killer came out from under that table and sank into the warmth of a dog bed.

Soon enough, he sought out the hand of his foster.
Then a spot by her feet.
And finally, in the steady warmth of her lap, while watching TV.

When he first came in, he cowered at the sniffs and the barks and the play bows of his foster sisters, but soon enough, he sniffed back.

And he began to play.

Underneath all that fur, through the stink of his teeth, and behind that name he was given before his time here, we found that Killer was...well...

Anything but.

He's a sweet old soul, somewhere around 6-8 years old. He truly does love people and other dogs. He loves toys and food.

And this boy, even though he wasn't given a very good start - truly loves life. And we're totally here for it.

Killer is the reason why we host fundraisers like Raise the Woof. These fundraisers give us the opportunity to say yes to a dog that we know is going to cost more to "fix" than we'll make from an adoption fee.

But how do you say no to a face like that?
