🛒🐱 NORMAN’S WEEKEND SHOPPING LIST 🐱🛒

Norman has got his basket and he’s off shopping for the weekend essentials! 😂

His shopping list includes:
🐾 Treats — obviously
📦 Boxes — because who needs the actual toys?
🪵 Scratch posts — must keep those claws sharp
🪮 New hair brush — looking fabulous is hard work
🦟 Tick prevention — even a clinic cat needs to stay protected!
🌎 World domination — just casually adding it to the trolley

We tried to tell Norman that Woolies doesn’t stock world domination… but he’s already spoken to management. 👀😂

Happy shopping, Norman! Please remember to stick to the list! 🛒🐾

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH MEETS FUN SCRUB DAY! 🎀💗

A little extra PINK at our meeting day this month! 🩷✨

Our team swapped their usual looks for all things pink to combine our meeting day with fun scrub day, all in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month! 💕🌸

While we love any excuse to dress up and have a bit of fun, this month is also a reminder of the importance of breast cancer awareness, supporting those affected, and continuing to raise funds for vital breast cancer research. 🎗️💗

We’re proud to wear pink, show our support, and bring a little extra colour to our clinic! 🩷

Get those puppies checked!
🎀 WE’RE TURNING PINK FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS! 🎀

This week, our team is swapping our usual accessories for PINK as we show our support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 💗

From pink accessories and our pink-themed Fun Scrubs Day, to a very pink team meeting, we’re bringing a little extra colour to the clinics while helping shine a light on an incredibly important cause.

And some of our team are taking things one step further with their own personal challenges!

🏃‍♀️ Nurse Aymee has pledged to run 100km throughout October!
🏊‍♀️ Dr Stacey is taking on her own challenge in November, putting her swimming skills to the test!

We’re proud to support our team as they challenge themselves, raise awareness and help contribute to the fight against breast cancer. 💗💗

Breast cancer affects so many families and communities, and every bit of awareness, support and fundraising can make a difference.

So, if you spot us looking extra pink this week, you’ll know why! 🎀

🐾 Hi, I’m Butters!

During my recent hospital stay for blood tests and an ultrasound, I received the gold-class treatment! I even got to spend some quality time in Nurse Nadia’s office. Of course, I made sure to put on my best begging face whenever she dared to take her attention off me! 🐾

Throwback Thursday!

Today's trip down memory lane features Dr Nicole from her very first days at PRAH!

Fresh out of university, Dr Nicole began her veterinary journey with us, full of enthusiasm and a passion for helping animals.

Over the years, Dr Nicole has developed a special interest in helping pets and their families manage diabetes and continues to expand her knowledge and skills in palliative care, ensuring pets receive compassionate support through every stage of life.

Fast forward to today, and she's an experienced and compassionate veterinarian who continues to make a difference to the lives of our patients and their families every day.

We're so fortunate to have watched her grow over the years, and we think she'll agree these throwback photos are too good not to share!

Have you been bringing your pets to see Dr Nicole since the beginning? Let us know in the comments! We'd also love to see photos of the fur babies that Dr Nicole has had the pleasure of caring for over the years.

✨ Celebrity sighting! ✨

We recently had Chewie, one half of the cheeky duo from Chewie and Solo: The Great Biscuit Bonanza, pop in to visit us. We were absolutely star-struck!

To top it all off, Chewie gifted us a personalised paw-signed copy of the book. What a superstar! 🐾

How talented is Chewie's mum for creating such a fun story? If you'd like to join Chewie and Solo on their biscuit-filled adventures, get your copy here:

TOADS & PETS - A TOXIC COMBINATION!

With warmer weather and rainy nights, toads become much more active, and unfortunately, that can mean more curious pets getting a little too close! 👀

Cane toads produce a highly toxic substance that can cause serious illness in dogs and cats if they lick, bite or mouth them.

🐸Signs of toad poisoning can include:
• Excessive drooling or foaming at the mouth
• Gagging or vomiting
• Bright red gums
• Shaking or tremors
• Weakness or difficulty walking
• Seizures
• Abnormal heart rhythm
• In severe cases, collapse or death

If your pet has mouthed or licked a toad:
👉🏽Immediately wipe their gums and tongue with a damp cloth, rinsing the cloth repeatedly as you go.
👉🏽 Keep their head angled down so they don’t swallow the toxin-contaminated water.
👉🏽Do not induce vomiting.
👉🏽 Contact your veterinarian or an emergency vet immediately for further advice.

Prevention is key! Keep pets indoors at night where possible, supervise them outside and use a torch when checking the yard after dark.

Curious noses + hopping toads = a combination we would rather avoid!

If you suspect your pet has been exposed to a toad, don’t wait for symptoms to appear. Seek veterinary advice straight away. 💚

Baby Bird Update from Wildcare! 🐦

Not every baby bird you find needs to be rescued.

Keeping healthy chicks with their parents whenever it is safe to do so reduces pressure on vet clinics, wildlife hospitals and volunteers. And most importantly, gives these little birds their best chance of survival.

If you find a baby bird, take a moment to assess the situation before intervening. Parents may be nearby, even if you can’t see them!

If you’re unsure whether a bird needs help, seek advice from your local wildlife rescue organisation before bringing it into a clinic.

Healthy chicks belong with their parents whenever possible. 🐦💚
