๐ถ๐ OLLIE'S EAR CLEAN! ๐๐ถ
Meet handsome Ollie, a lovely Border Collie who recently visited Kantenna Park Veterinary Clinic to have his ears cleaned! ๐พ๐
Keeping an eye on your pet's ears is an important part of their overall health and comfort. Some dogs naturally produce more wax than others, while things like moisture, allergies, ear shape and underlying ear conditions can contribute to dirty or irritated ears.
Regular ear checks and cleaning when appropriate for your pet can help remove excess wax and debris, keep the ear canal clean and allow you to notice potential problems before they become more uncomfortable. ๐โจ
Some signs that your pet's ears may need veterinary attention include:
๐พ Excessive scratching around the ears
๐พ Frequent head shaking
๐พ Redness or swelling
๐พ A strong or unusual smell
๐พ Excessive wax or discharge
๐พ Pain or sensitivity when their ears are touched
It's important to remember that not every pet needs frequent ear cleaning, and over-cleaning can sometimes cause irritation. If your pet's ears are suddenly dirty, sore, smelly or producing discharge, it's best to have them checked rather than repeatedly cleaning them at home, as an ear infection or another underlying problem may need treatment.
Ollie was a wonderful patient while we gave his ears some much-needed attention, and we're sure he's feeling much fresher and more comfortable now! ๐ฅฐ๐ถ
