🐦 Avian Flu Confirmed at Warriewood!

The NSW Government has confirmed H5 avian influenza (bird flu) in a greater crested tern at Warriewood.

Simple precautions can help protect your family and pets - this is about being sensible, not panicking.

If you see a sick or dead wild bird:
✋ Don’t touch, move or handle it
🚸 Keep children and pets well away
🐕 Keep dogs on lead near beaches, wetlands, parks and waterways - don’t let them sniff, lick, pick up or eat it
🐈 Keep cats indoors where possible while bird flu is active locally

📷 If safe, photograph/video from a distance and note the location

Reporting:
Multiple sick/dead birds or animals → Emergency Animal Disease Hotline: 1800 675 888

Multiple birds in a public area→ NB Northern Beaches : 1300 434 434

🔴 Before bringing an animal to us:
Please don’t bring sick/injured wild birds straight into the clinic. If you’ve safely contained a bird, or your pet has touched, mouthed or eaten one, call us first - this protects our patients, clients and team.

Unsure or worried about your pet? Give us a call - we are happy to talk it through. 💚

🌸 Spring is here… and so is the itch! 🐾

As the weather warms up, an increase in environmental allergens can trigger skin and ear flare-ups in our pets.

Keep an eye out for signs like:
🐾 Licking paws
🐾 Scratching
🐾 Head shaking
🐾 Restlessness

If your pet is showing any of these signs, our team can help get to the bottom of their itch and keep them comfortable this spring. 💙

A great day of learning for our nursing team! 🩺🐾

Vet Nurses Tessa, Ellie and Bella recently visited Animal Referral Hospital Homebush - Animal Referral Hospital (ARH) Homebush Specialist Hospital - for a valuable day of education and hands-on training.

They explored key emergency presentations including shock and respiratory conditions, before putting their skills into practice during a practical suturing session.

Continuing professional development (CPD) is an important part of keeping our vet nurses at the top of their game - building knowledge, refining clinical skills and ensuring our team can continue to provide the very best care for our patients. 💙🐶🐱

We’re proud to support our vet nurses in their ongoing learning and development!

Heart disease is a common condition in many small breed dogs, which is why regular check-ups and screening can make such a difference. 🫀

Albus recently visited us for his echocardiogram and chest radiographs, thanks to the team at The Vet's North - and we’re happy to report that he is stable with Stage B1 mitral and tricuspid valve disease. At this stage, his heart has not enlarged, meaning he doesn’t require medication just yet, but ongoing monitoring is key to catching any changes early.

Well done, Albus! We’ll see you at your next heart check. ❤️🐾

☀️😻 Serving sunshine, style and serious cattitude.

Today, on the offical International Cat Day, we celebrate the purr-sonalities that make cats so wonderfully… catty! 😸💕

Because every cat deserves a comfy spot, a little pampering and a veterinary team that is completely smitten with them! Just like the handsome Rupert Blue! 💙

Here’s to healthy whiskers, happy hearts, sunny naps and plenty of TLC. 🐾✨

Happy International Cat Day! 😻
