Uterine diseases in guinea pigs

💟 Uterine diseases, including tumours and cancers, can occur in undesexed female guinea pigs, just like in rabbits.
💟 Clinical signs include vaginal bleeding or discharge, lethargy, inappetance, abdominal pain, and abdominal swelling.
💟 Treatment is ovariohysterectomy (desexing), which is the removal of both the ovaries and the uterus. Removing the ovaries also prevents and treats ovarian cysts, which are very common in guinea pigs.
