Border Veterinary Surgery Professional, caring vets. Practicing what's possible At Border Vets we all love animals! We are always looking to improve everything we do.

This passion is what drives us to deliver high quality healthcare; we love to do everything we can for the animal's benefit. Our friendly staff regularly go that extra mile to ensure both clients and animals are well looked after. Our vets and nurses are continually updating their knowledge and skills by attending conferences and participating in continuing education. This extends to our equipment, which is at a very good level due to this philosophy. We have new ultrasound equipment, extensive in-house blood testing and the capacity to perform both orthopaedic surgery and complex soft tissue surgeries. Our mobile horse trailer greatly improves the safety of both horses and people during procedures such as dental examination and treatment, standing surgery and re**al exams. Should your animal require specialist care we happily refer to several specialists we know and trust.

The snakes are out, and we're seeing an increase in snake bites at the clinic!

If your pet has had a suspected encounter with a snake, or is suddenly acting a little off, weak or wobbly, don't wait and see — bring them in ASAP!
A blood test can help us detect signs of snake envenomation, but early results can sometimes be normal, so repeat testing may be needed.

When snakes are about, don't wait it out!

If in doubt, bring them in — acting quickly could save their life.

This year marks 36 years of caring for the animals and families of Goondiwindi and the surrounding region. What a milestone! We’re incredibly grateful to all of our wonderful clients for your continued support, trust and friendship over the years — we wouldn’t be here without you.

A huge thank you also goes to the many vets, nurses and staff members, past and present, who have been part of the Border Vets family and have helped make the clinic what it is today. Poor performance, weight loss, a dull coat, behavioural changes, fussy eating or recurring colic could all be signs of equine gastric ulcers.

🧺 Calling all towel collectors! 🐾

We're on the hunt for old towels!

If you've got any clean towels sitting in the back of the linen cupboard that you're no longer using, we'd love to give them a second life here at Border Veterinary Surgery.

Our furry patients go through a LOT of towels every day—for bedding, drying off after baths, keeping them warm during recovery, and cleaning up the inevitable puppy and kitten messes! 🐶🐱

Donations can be dropped into the clinic during opening hours. Every towel, big or small, helps us keep our patients warm, dry and comfortable.

A huge thank you to our amazing community for always supporting us and our four-legged friends. ❤️🐾

Guess who came to visit us today... an entire litter of Blueys and Bingos! 💙🧡

Okay, not THE Bluey and Bingo... but close enough! We had a bunch of adorable little cattle dog pups come in for their very first check-up today.

Safe to say the team couldn't resist sneaking in a few puppy cuddles... while the puppies had absolutely no trouble stealing all of our hearts!

We're pretty sure there's no better way to brighten a workday than with a waiting room full of cattle dog puppies nipping at your ankles

A reminder that Border Veterinary Surgery will be closed over the Anzac day weekend (25th and 26th of April).
As always, a vet will be available on the after hours phone for emergencies only.
All routine and non-emergent consults are to resume next week.
