📣 MARKETS MARKETS MARKETS 📣

Now, we had every intention of being organised, prepared and ready to bring our little mobile shop to the markets starting tomorrow.

But then we finished cleaning out the shop.
Hayley moved house.
We both decided to stop moving for approximately one (1) day off…

Annnnnndddd now we’re both sick. 😂🤧

So, an update:

❌ We’re not ready.
❌ We’re not organised.
❌ We’re not starting markets tomorrow.
❌ We’re not even out of bed.

Turns out you can, in fact, run purely on stress and chaos for years, but the second you stop, your immune system goes “HAHA, MY TURN.”

So our grand market debut is being postponed while we recover, locate our remaining brain cells, unpack Hayley’s house and generally attempt to become functioning members of society again.

We’ll let you know when Fins & Fur: Mobile Chaos Edition™ is actually ready to hit the markets. 😂

🎉🎂 HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THIS ABSOLUTE LEGEND! 🎂🎉

Well, after the Fins & Fur page has been quieter than crickets lately, I figured there was no better reason to finally crawl back out of hiding than to wish this woman a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 😂💕

Turns out after the last few months, we all needed a bloody good little break… and honestly, I think we both earned it.

Hayley is basically the yang to my yin… except we’re both a little bit messed up, equally chaotic and running almost entirely on ADHD, caffeine, questionable decisions and “she’ll be right” energy. 😂

Somehow, between the two of us, we managed to pull off things that probably should have been impossible.

There were the all nighters getting the shop finished, the “we’ll just quickly do this” jobs that turned into 6 hour missions, the random ideas, the animals, the laughs, the stress, the absolute s**tshows and moments where we probably should have just gone home… but didn’t. 😂

And that’s what I’ll remember most.

Not just the shop.

The ridiculous laughs.
The stupid conversations.
The complete chaos.
The “are we actually doing this?” moments.
And having someone beside me who understood the madness because she was just as bloody mad. 😂❤️

Hayley has been so much more than just part of Fins & Fur. She’s become one of those people I know I can count on, whether it’s for a serious conversation, an inappropriate joke, an ADHD-fuelled 11pm idea or to somehow make an already chaotic situation even more chaotic. 😂

She’s got a huge heart, an absolute love for animals, and somehow manages to care about everyone while still being her wonderfully weird self.

I’m bloody lucky to have you, Hayley. ❤️

So today, forget the washing, the dishes, the never-ending housework, the animals demanding things every five minutes and all the other mundane s**t life throws at us. 😂

It’s YOUR day.

I hope you get spoiled rotten, eat an unreasonable amount of cake, laugh until your stomach hurts and get to enjoy a day where nobody needs you to do anything. 😂🎂

And here’s to our next adventures, now that we’re out of the storefront… because if the past few months are anything to go by, I genuinely have no idea how wild we’re going to let this next chapter get. 😂

🤦🏼‍♀️ I’ve realised I’ve never actually formally introduced the husband… 🤦🏼‍♀️

So, for those who may be wondering who the bloke occasionally wandering around the shop is…

THIS IS TOM. 👋🏼

I swear he’s not some magical mythical creature that I’ve made up. He does actually exist. I’m sure of it. 😂

He’s usually just busy working on the farm, chasing pigs, wrangling the kids, or standing in the background at home looking at my ever-growing collection of animals and ADHD projects with that classic husband look of… 😐

He’s the quieter one.
The calm to this clinically insane storm. 😂

While I’m off creating chaos, acquiring animals, starting 47 projects at once and generally running at 1000km an hour, Tom is usually somewhere nearby quietly wondering how the hell we got here.

So if you’re in and around the shop THIS WEEKEND while we continue shutting up shop, don’t be shy! Come say hello, give him a handshake… (and a GOOD shake is apparently the way to his heart 😉😂)

He’s not some random bloke I’ve convinced to come in and help me. He is, in fact, the husband. 😂

And apologies to anyone sensitive to pig chasing… but honestly, it was the most fitting photo I could possibly find of him. Hahahaha 🐷😂

🐾 Looking after the dogs that work for us 🐾

Today was chiropractic treatment day for some of our dogs with Kassie from All in One Equine❤️

These dogs work incredibly hard for us. They run, hunt, train, compete and give absolutely everything we ask of them — and because of that, it’s really important to me that we put just as much effort into looking after their bodies as we do into keeping them fit and working.

For me, regular body checks and treatments are part of owning working dogs. Keeping an eye on how they’re moving, noticing when something feels a little off, giving them adequate rest and recovery, and getting them checked when needed.

They can’t tell us when they’re feeling sore or tight, so it’s our responsibility to pay attention.

They work hard for us, so the very least we can do is work hard to keep them feeling their best. 🖤

Happy, comfortable dogs will always come before the job. 🐕

👀 SO… WHAT’S NEXT FOR FINS & FUR? 👀

You can probably see that we’re still in here… but the doors are locked? 😂

Turns out closing down a shop involves a freaking LOT of work. Who knew?! So Jaden & Hayley are currently buried somewhere amongst boxes, cleaning, packing, organising and preparing for our next adventures.

We also still have parcels arriving here because apparently closing the shop does not mean we stop ordering things. Priorities. 💅😂

BUT — you haven’t seen the last of us!

🌟 27th September — we’ll be at the markets! 🌟

We’ll be bringing:
🛁 The hydrobath — BYO towel!
🐕 Jaden’s incredible handmade Biothane gear
🪡 The beginnings of Hayley’s leatherwork journey
🪿 And we might even bring Goose & Goose along for everyone to meet!

Towards the end of September, both Jaden & Hayley will also have openings for doggie adventures & training sessions! 🐾

The shopfront might be closed, but Fins & Fur definitely isn’t disappearing.

We’re just packing up the chaos and taking it somewhere else. 😎🐾

✨ THAT’S A WRAP! ✨

The shop doors are officially CLOSED… but don’t worry, Fins & Fur will still be running absolute havoc. 😂💗

A massive THANK YOU to every single person who has supported us, shopped with us, laughed with us and put up with the chaos. We bloody love you all. 🥹💕

And yes… the “I DON’T WORK HERE” mugs are officially earning their keep. ☕️🤣

Don’t worry, my sappy post is coming… Jaden is just tired and the late-night ADHD tasks are calling. 😂

I’ll bring the tears… or should I say, the tearjerker post is coming soon. 🥹😭💗

This isn’t goodbye… just the end of one very chaotic chapter. 🐾💗💙

Hayley here, hijacking the page on the very last day of the Fins & Fur shop front 🥹💗

When I moved to Goondiwindi a little over a year ago, I knew nobody. I was dealing with some medical concerns, living isolated out on farm, a long way from home, and if I’m honest, it was an unbelievably difficult time in my life.

Then I met Jaden.

The very first person I met in Goondiwindi was Jaden, right here in the foyer of this store. And naturally, we bonded over the fact that she had a puppy called Goose… and I had a Whippet called Goose. 😂🪿

Jaden very quickly became a friend when I desperately needed one.

Over time, whenever I came into town, I found myself at Fins & Fur. She introduced me to people. I started recognising faces. People started recognising me. Eventually, she let me open grooming within the shop — adding an entirely new level of chaos to a place that arguably already had enough of it.

But somewhere amongst the dogs, fish, birds, Red Bull, terrible ideas, grooming hair and general nonsense, something pretty special happened.

I found a community.

A community I genuinely don’t think I would have been able to build without Jaden and this little shop front.

So while today marks the end of the Fins & Fur shop front, it absolutely does not mark the end of Fins & Fur — and unfortunately for everyone else, the Dynamic Duo of Jaden & Hayley has only just begun. 😂

But before we move onto whatever ridiculous thing comes next, I needed to pay homage to Jaden and to this shop.

Because what she — and this place — has done for me over the last year is something I’ll never really be able to repay.

She brought me into her world when mine was pretty bloody lonely, and in doing so, she made mine a whole lot better.

So, Red Bull & donuts all round today. ❤️

But mostly, just a really, really big thank you to Jaden.

For the friendship.
For the community.
For trusting me with a corner of your shop.
For introducing me to half of Goondiwindi.
For every ridiculous idea we’ve somehow turned into reality.
And for being the first friendly face I found in a town a long way from home.

The doors might be closing, but we’re definitely not done yet.
