🐶 PATIENT OF THE WEEK 🐶

A huge shout-out to Totchka for being such a superstar during her desexing procedure this week! She handled everything with grace and bounced back from her anaesthetic like a total pro. It was a pleasure to look after such a sweet, well-behaved girl❤️

🐾 Patient of the Week 🐾

Mia is this week’s spotlight patient! Mia came in for her routine spaying surgery and, in true Jack Russell nature, brought along an abundance of playful energy that put a smile on everyone's face. She was exceptionally well-behaved and recovered from her anesthetic like an absolute champion! 😀

🥰 CVC FUN FACTS THURSDAY 🥰
This months fun facts focus's on the very popular breed of dogs, CAVOODLES! We see so many Cavoodles at Carnegie Vets so we thought it would be a great idea to let you know some interesting facts about the loveable breed.

🐕 Cavoodles are a cross-breed, mixed with a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle. This gives them their teddy-bear look, loving, & low-shedding nature.
🐕 Cavoodles generally live anywhere between 10-15 years and weigh between 5-12kg. They are excellent family dogs, highly social, trainable and very intelligent.
🐕They are known as the 'Velcro' dogs as they form intense bonds with their owners, often following them from room to room.
🐕Cavoodles come in a variety of sizes and colours. Their coats can range from solid black/white, white, ruby, apricot and blenheim (red & white).
🐕 Even though they are low shedding dogs, their wooly, curly coats do not stop growing and require regular grooming by a professional every 6-8 weeks to prevent matting. Without regular grooming, matting can lead to discomfort for the dog as the matts pull on the dogs skin and lead to sores and irritated skin.
🐕 Cavoodles are also very popular to have as a therapy dog, due to their intelligence, gentle, affectionate and easy to please nature.

So if you are thinking of getting a Cavoodle, take note of the points above, all puppies need alot of patience and training, but with the growing popularity of Cavoodles, we can definately see what the go to breed is!

We are so excited to see you down for Carnegie Vets and DentalCare Carnegie SMILE DAY!!

Come down between 10.30am to 1pm and enjoy heaps of fun activities and loads of advice! (As well as heaps of goodies to take home!)

And don’t forget to take some awesome pictures and enter into the photo competition! One lucky dog and one lucky cat will be receiving an awesome hamper full of goodies! 🌼CANCER COUNCILS BIGGEST MORNING TEA🌼

This May, Carnegie Veterinary Clinic will be hosting a morning tea to help raise funds for life-saving support for those Australians impacted by cancer, that affects almost 1 in 2.
Come in and join us on Thursday May 21st at 11am for a tea, coffee and a sweet treat baked by our wonderful vets/vet nurses.
We will also have some treaties for your furry companions of course 🐶

If you would like to donate to this amazing cause, you will find a donation box at our reception in clinic & also QR codes that you can scan and donate if you wish. The money raised will go to research, supporting Australians that are diagnosed with cancer, & funding the world leading prevention campaigns.

So if you can, we'd love to see you, come down to the clinic on Thursday the 21st of May at 11am and enjoy a warm cuppa & a baked treat on us! We can sit down and have a chat about past stories or simply about your canine or feline companion.

Last year, 20 497 morning tea hosts across the country raised over $11.2 million for people impacted by cancer. Every single dollar raised makes such a life changing difference in funding vital cancer research, prevention programs and support services for cancer patients and their families.

🦮 TODAY IS INTERNATIONAL GUIDE DOG DAY 🦮

This day recognises and celebrates the extraordinary contribution of these highly trained dogs, as well as the profound impact they have on the lives of their handlers. Beyond essential mobility support, guide dogs also offer companionship, confidence, and emotional reassurance.
Guide dogs provide greater independence, mobility and social connection for people who are blind or have low vision.

Did you know that there are currently 18,978 guide dogs actively working worldwide?
During 2025, 2,600 guide dogs were trained globally.
