Have you ever dreamed of taking your dog off leash? 🐶

Lately I’ve had lots of conversations with new puppy owners about their future goals for their dog.

We can get you a FANTASTIC start in puppy school. However, your puppy isn’t magically trained once you graduate.

You wouldn’t expect a 5 year old kindergarten child to learn or be capable of solving high school algebra! Or I’d hope your expectations aren’t that high 😅

Canine Hoopers is the follow on training that I offer after puppy school.

Hoopers is a fun dog sport where we can work on that next stage of skills together!

We cover more complex skills in a FUN way with Hoopers:
🐶 Pay attention to you around tempting distractions
🐶 Strengthen recall, loose leash walking and foundations for off leash control
🐶 Developing your bond and teamwork

Are you running low on energy with your new puppy? 🪫

Life is busy, and it’s important to me to meet every dog owner where they’re at with low, medium & high effort training options 🤗

Here’s how to get your dog used to the hair dryer before their next bath day, whether you want an idea that takes no extra time from you or need guidance to do a dedicated training session!

🟣 Low - dry YOUR hair while they eat breaky/dinner or enjoy a treat nearby. Let them get comfy with the sound from a distance!

🟣 Medium - pop their fave snack (yoghurt, anyone?) on a Licki Mat while you gently brush them, introduce the nail clippers or lightly introduce the dryer. Licki Mats are SO self-soothing!

🟣 High - ready for the real deal! Set aside some time to feed your puppy treats while the hair dryer is used directly on them. You’ve got this! 🙌

Starting slow makes ALL the difference for a stress-free groom. Save this for your next grooming prep session!

What a massive day!!! This was a double header trial with special guests from Perth! Course maps to come later in the week!

Unfortunately some really tricky environmental distractions today - we had a record number of wees in the ring 😂 and lots of sniffs, potentially because of the dewy and steamy morning ☀️

When teams could stay connected, we had some beautiful runs 😍 here’s a recap!

Trial 1 - designed and judged by Cara!
Beginners: 4/8 passes
Judge’s Choice 🎀 Jennifer and Seamus. Super fun team to watch!

Intermediate: 4/7 passes
Judge’s Choice 🎀 Anna and Watson. They brought the joy!

Go the Distance Level 1: 5/9 passes
Judge’s Choice 🎀 Andrea and Winnie. Positive, fun and confident run!

Go the Distance Level 2: 0/1 no pass on this course but Emily and Nancy received Judge’s Choice for being a super team with impressive distance handling 🥰

Beginners: 2/8 passes
Judge’s Choice 🎀 Sam and Ebony. There were some crows flapping around outside the ring and she did so well to stay focussed.

Intermediate: 5/9 passes
Judge’s Choice 🎀 Bethan and Nala. What an impressive interstate team - fast and connected!

Go the Distance Level 1: 6/9 passes
Judge’s Choice 🎀 Mirna and Eppy. Such enthusiasm to RUN!

Go the Distance Level 2: 1/1 pass for Emily and Nancy! And well-deserved Judge’s Choice award as this team has conquered an entire event on their own with flowy runs… onto Level 3 now 👀

2 years ago today, I said goodbye to Cody.

This anniversary completely snuck up on me.

The first year felt surreal. Two years feels different. It feels like such a long time to have been apart.

I've lost people before, but losing a pet is unique because they're woven into the fabric of your everyday life. I still struggle to imagine never giving him another pat, kiss, or cuddle.

As time passes, some of the things that connected me to him change too. Our cat Missy has since passed away. His toys and beds are getting older, and I know I will replace one day. My training journey has evolved. Even watching Saffy get older reminds me how fleeting our time with them really is.

There are positives that came from growing up with Cody. Without him, I don't think I'd have discovered my passion for dog training or started Chapter One. He shaped so much of who I am today. But there is still a heavy ache that appears whenever I think about him for too long. He was truly one of the most important parts of my life, and I miss him every day.

A last-minute opportunity before our Double Header Trial on June 20! 🙌

Cara Thomson, from Hoopers Australia and Zen Dog Training in Perth, is joining us at Francisca's Agility Arena to share her knowledge, experience and training insights in an exclusive Hoopers workshop.

⏰ 10:00am – 12:00pm
📍 Francisca's Agility Arena, Mudgeeraba

This workshop is likely to be most beneficial for teams who already have some Hoopers foundations in place and are beginning to explore skills such as course running, distance handling, trial preparation, and more advanced handling challenges.

If you're newer to Hoopers, don't worry! I'll continue running beginner-friendly workshops and foundation opportunities throughout the year, so there will be plenty of chances to build your skills and confidence.

The workshop content will be tailored to the goals and skill levels of the teams attending, ensuring everyone gets maximum value from the session.

✨ Auditing Spots Available
• Chapter One members: $75
• Public: $90

Working spots in this session are currently full, however a waitlist is available if you'd like to be considered should a position become available.

Auditor numbers will also be limited. Parking at the venue is restricted, and we want to keep the group small enough that everyone can comfortably watch, ask questions, and get the most out of the session.

This is an opportunity you won't want to miss!

Saffy and I will be there learning alongside everyone, and if this workshop is a success, we'll have to convince Cara to make another trip back! 😉
