Three Dachshunds. Three different dogs. One common problem — reactivity around other dogs. 🐾

The goal isn’t to avoid dogs forever. It’s to teach them how to exist around other dogs without needing to react.

By working at the right distance, building engagement and rewarding calm, neutral behaviour, we gradually turn other dogs into background noise.

Less fixation. Less barking. More confidence. More control.

Neutrality is the goal. 👏🐶

From bird reactive to bird neutral 🐦➡️🐕

This dog started out reacting every time it saw birds. Instead of avoiding the trigger, we taught the dog how to stay calm, make good decisions, and remain engaged with the handler around increasing levels of distraction.

Remember: don’t rush this process. Start at a distance where your dog can stay successful, reward calm behaviour, and gradually decrease that distance over time. The goal isn’t to stop your dog from noticing birds—it’s to teach them they don’t need to react to them.

Every calm repetition builds confidence. 👊

A puppy’s future isn’t built by rushing into distractions—it’s built by creating solid foundations first. 🐾

Environmental confidence, a reliable recall, and engaged obedience are three of the most important skills you can develop during the critical learning period. Train progressively, proof each behaviour, and set your puppy up for lifelong success.
