🧺💙 WE NEED YOUR TOWELS & BLANKETS! 🐾

Our furry patients go through A LOT of towels and blankets here at the clinic — from post-surgery cuddles and hospital stays to keeping our nervous patients warm and comfortable. 🥰🐶🐱

We would be incredibly grateful for any clean, used, or unwanted towels and blankets you may have at home that you’re happy to donate to us! 💙

✨ What we need:
🛁 Towels of all sizes
🛏️ Blankets WITHOUT any filling inside
🐾 Fleece or simple washable blankets are perfect!

🚫 Please NO doonas or pillows, as the filling can become a problem in our washing machines and isn't suitable for our patients.

If you have some spare towels or suitable blankets taking up space in your cupboards, we would LOVE to give them a second life helping our patients! 🥹💙

Simply drop them into the clinic — our nurses (and our very grateful patients!) will thank you! 🐾💕

🎓🐾 PUPPY SCHOOL GRADUATES! 🐾🎓

A HUGE congratulations to Teddy, Alfie & Hasu! 🥳🐶

These three clever little pups have officially graduated from Puppy School! 🎓✨ They’ve worked hard, learned lots of important puppy skills and, of course, had plenty of fun along the way! 💙

We are so proud of our little graduates and can’t wait to see them continue growing into happy, confident, and well-mannered dogs. 🥰🐾

🐾🔍 QUIZ ANSWER REVEALED! 🔍🐾

👨‍⚕️ DR SEUNG! 🎉
And what was he doing?

He was inspecting the sutures of Nurse Prue’s dog, Ned, following surgery to remove a foreign body! 🩺🐶

Poor Ned decided that a piece of towel looked like a tasty snack… and unfortunately, it didn’t agree with him! 😳😂

Ned had swallowed the piece of towel, which meant he needed surgery to retrieve the foreign body. Thankfully, our team was able to get it out and get this cheeky boy back on the road to recovery. 💙

And because Prue is one of our nurses AND Ned is her own dog, you can imagine there was a little extra concern and plenty of TLC involved! 🥰

Dr Seung was giving Ned’s surgical site a thorough check to make sure those sutures were looking good and that he was healing nicely.

This photo also perfectly demonstrates that veterinary medicine isn't always glamorous… sometimes it involves getting right down on the floor for a VERY close inspection! 😂

Beautiful Toffee recently visited us for her spey procedure and was an absolute superstar patient from start to finish 🐾💕

After surgery, one of the most important parts of recovery is making sure patients leave their surgical site alone while it heals. That’s where the Elizabethan collar (or “cone of shame” as many call it!) becomes so important. Although they may look a little funny, these collars help prevent licking, chewing, and scratching at the incision, which can lead to infection, irritation or even stitches breaking down.

General aftercare following a spey procedure includes:
✨ Keeping activity restricted for the recommended recovery period
✨ Monitoring the incision daily for redness, swelling or discharge
✨ Ensuring medications are given as directed
✨ Keeping the Elizabethan collar on at all times unless advised otherwise by our team

Our vets and nurses are always here to help guide you through your pet’s recovery and answer any questions you may have along the way. We want every patient to heal comfortably and safely 💙

🐱💙 A big shoutout to sweet Charlie! 💙🐱

Charlie recently visited us after developing a blocked a**l gland, and she was such a brave little patient. We're happy to report she handled her treatment like an absolute champion and is now feeling much more comfortable! 🥰

Many people are surprised to learn that cats have a**l glands too! These small scent glands sit just inside the a**s and usually empty naturally when your cat passes a bowel motion. Occasionally, they can become blocked, leading to discomfort, swelling, pain, or even infection if left untreated.

Signs your cat may have an a**l gland problem include:
🐾 Excessive licking under the tail
🐾 Scooting their bottom along the ground
🐾 Swelling or redness near the a**s
🐾 Pain when sitting or toileting
🐾 A foul-smelling discharge

If you notice any of these signs, it's best to have your cat examined sooner rather than later. Prompt treatment can provide quick relief and help prevent an abscess from forming.

Charlie was an absolute sweetheart throughout her visit, and we loved helping her get back to feeling her happy, comfortable self. Thank you to Charlie's mum for trusting us with her care! ❤️

🐾💙 10 Years of Moon! 💙🐾

Today we’re celebrating a very special milestone — Moon has been part of our Blackburn Animal Hospital family for 10 whole years! 🎉🐶

It feels like only yesterday that this gorgeous girl was a cheeky young pup attending puppy school here at the clinic. Fast forward 10 years, and Moon has gone from learning her puppy manners to being lovingly cared for through her senior years. 🥹💕

We feel so incredibly lucky to have watched her grow, shared so many visits, cuddles and milestones, and to be trusted with her care throughout every stage of her life.

🌟 Congratulations, Moon, on 10 wonderful years with us! 🌟

Thank you to Moon’s family for trusting our team to care for her for all these years. We absolutely adore seeing our patients grow from tiny puppies and kittens into their beautiful senior selves. ❤️

🐾💙 Cuddles BEFORE the check-up? Absolutely! 💙🐾

Little Eight came in for his check-up and clearly decided that the most important part of his vet visit was getting ALL the cuddles from Dr Seung first! 🥹🐱

There may have been a check-up scheduled… but Eight had other priorities. 😻

A few snuggles, a little purring and plenty of love later, this gorgeous little kitten was ready to show Dr Seung just how cute he really is! 💙

We think every kitten deserves a little cuddle time before their examination. 🥰
