11 rescue cats. One big-hearted family. One very special visit. 🐱❤️

Their names are all inspired by the solar system: Jupiter, Mars, Mercury, Moon, Neptune, Pluto, Saturn, Solar, Tera, Uranus and Venus!

Today we had the joy of caring for 11 rescued cats, all lovingly adopted by the same amazing family, who brought them in together for their vaccinations. 🩺💉

Every one of these cats has been given a second chance at life, filled with safety, love, and a place to call home. Seeing such dedication to their health and wellbeing is truly inspiring.

Thank you to this wonderful family for showing what compassion looks like and for trusting us to be part of their journey. We hope all 11 of our feline patients enjoy plenty of cuddles (and maybe a few extra treats) after their brave day at the vet! 🐾💙

🐾 Our patient of the day: Princess Juno❤️

Juno, weighing 26kg, arrived at Happy Tails today for a desexing procedure.

Once she arrived at the hospital, she was overjoyed. She did not want to enter the inpatient cage. She sniffed around and wanted to continue playing.🥹

Our nurse, Lyon, noticed that she was simply too excited, so she decided to help her “let off some steam” first.⚡

So, Lyon and Juno ran laps around the clinic!😂🐶

After running a few laps, Juno finally expended some of her energy and gradually relaxed. To everyone’s surprise, the little princess willingly walked into her cage on her own, ready to undergo her surgery for the day. ❤️

Sometimes, these furry creatures need someone who is willing to take the time to understand their needs and take the time to make them feel comfortable in a strange environment.

Thank you, Lyon, for your patience, and thank you, Juno, for trusting us today.💕

Today’s Dental Case

🦷 A routine dental procedure revealed 2 FORLs + 1 tooth with periodontal disease.

This lovely 4-year-old indoor girl came in for her annual health check, blood tests, cardiac screening, and professional dental cleaning.

During her dental examination and full-mouth dental X-rays, we discovered:

🦷 2 × FORL (Feline Odontoclastic Resorptive Lesions)
🦷 1 × Periodontal disease

Many cats continue eating normally even when they have painful dental disease. Because many problems develop below the gum line, they can only be detected with full-mouth dental X-rays.

After every extraction, we always take post-operative dental X-rays to ensure all tooth roots have been completely removed, helping reduce the risk of ongoing pain and future complications.

🐱🐱🐱 Surgery? Done. Recovery? Excellent. Food? Absolutely! 😹🍽️

These three little kittens from Rocky Road Rescue Melbourne recovered beautifully after their procedures today. ❤️

After a few hours of post-operative monitoring and once they were fully awake and comfortable, they were more than happy to tuck into their meal!

A good appetite, bright attitude and plenty of kitten energy are all wonderful signs of recovery. 🐾

A big thank you to Rocky Road Rescue Melbourne for the amazing work they do caring for rescue cats and helping them find loving forever homes. 🏡❤️

🐾 Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming a beautiful litter of French Bulldog puppies via C-section. Mum, Polar Bear, was an absolute superstar throughout the procedure and recovery. ❤️

We’re delighted to report that Polar Bear and all of her babies are doing well, with every puppy strong, healthy, and thriving. A big thank you to our veterinary team for helping bring these little ones safely into the world.

📢 We also have some exciting news! Happy Tails is now open on Saturdays from 9:00am–1:00pm, giving you even more flexibility to care for your pets!!
