Just finished syringe feeding several kittens. Some are starting to eat moist food on their own. Yippee!!
Lots of dishwashing to be ready to do it all again tomorrow. 😮
I am seeing more energy from most of the kittens; one is still struggling. Hopefully tomorrow, he will turn a corner.
Tabby Cat was so curious about what I was doing with the kittens. He was watching my every move. When I finished with the kittens and got the bowl from his kennel, he started to lean in and rub against the kennel. I was silent, trying not to squeal. He did it again and again. I opened the door and put my hand near his him and he put his head in my hand. I gave him head scritches for a few minutes. He was all in. ❤️
Can't wait to show everyone tomorrow. I forgot to take my phone in for last feeding. So tired.🥱.
Today was a good day.

Not all kittens are happy and healthy.
It's so hard to see all the posts on FB where kittens are being given away.💔
You see, in the mind of a rescuer, an unspayed kitten is a future litter maker. We don't want them so we can collect adoption fees. In fact, most rescue barely break even with adoptions fees and the costs to foster kittens.
These kittens were struggling already even with their Moms. Kittens are very susceptible to viruses. Their immune systems are more vulnerable. Statistically, 30 to 40% of kittens born die before they are even seen. That's natural selection. But, they do suffer. Ever seen a kitten with agonal breathing? Google it...be prepared.💔
In this case, these kittens have a chance. Barely.
And as a rescue, pure exhaustion is normal.
We can do better, Period! We must do better not just for the rescuers who sacrifice so much, but for the cats that are struggling to survive. Especially those just being born.

This new journey is a new beginning for Tabby Boy.
He's been outside for a while. We need to acclimate him to a new space and indoor life.
Most cats remember being inside, it just takes time and patience.
He's been sleeping alot since his neuter and entropian surgery, which is good.
His new space has the basic needs. Litter box, bed, hammock and access to food. We will be sure he has lots of food.
Then we will take small steps to earn his trust. Tasty treats and a calm voice goes a long way.
Everyday will be new to him. We just want him to be comfortable.
Let's see how this goes.
❤️

After a long day of waiting for a prognosis on this boy, Tabby Cat, we have good news. He looks bad but he's OK.
The staff at Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project estimated him to be between 8 - 10 years old. He's underweight. Has fractured teeth. 💔 The clinic cleaned wounds that are already healing and performed an entropian surgery on his left eye. This is a game changer for him!
Entropian is an extremely painful condition where a cat’s eyelid rolls inward, causing eyelashes and fur to scratch the eye's surface. This explains the severe discharge from his eye. Poor soul.
The plan is to hold him for a few days while his pain medication dissipates.
During that time, we will assess his demeanor and give him lots of warm food, a cozy bed and allow him to rest.
I am hopeful but I need to express that I am overwhelmed. I need a couple foster homes. Tabby Cat was not a planned rescue. I have 2 to 3 incoming litters of sick kittens arriving tomorrow. I couldn't say "no" to Tabby Cat.
Rescue requires lots of planning, even logistics. Litters/cats are moved to foster homes to make space for intakes. We need to quarantine cats and kittens to confirm their health and administer medications, vaccines etc.
In the end, I manage to get things handled but it's stressful. Hopefully the kittens arriving tomorrow are not as sick as advised.
I am looking forward to getting to know Tabby Cat.
While I was feeding him tonight, I could swear I heard short purrs. But sometimes cats purr when nervous or in pain. I really want him to have a chance at a new beginning. It's obvious he's had some rough times.
Thank you to all that donated. I am eternally grateful.

Our Tootsie was recently transferred to Passionate Pussycats Feline Rescue along with her siblings. She's such a brave & sassy girl.
Very grateful for this partnership. 💪❤️
It allows our rescue to help more in Lewis County.
Go Tootsie!!

Take me home today!
My name is Pretty Boy, and I was brought in as an owner surrender with my friends, Orange Boy, Tippy & Skittles. I am a very sweet and affectionate boy who loves snuggles but am the shyest of my group. I am estimated to be around 1.5 years old. I am litterbox trained and have been indoors my whole life. I have never been around dogs before, but I am very sweet towards other kitties. I do great with kids and would make a great family cat! I am already neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, now ready to meet my new loving home!

This is what defeated looks like..
💔
Nine Lives & More Rescue referred a resident needing help with a sick cat. They have been feeding him off and on and noticed he was not getting better.
Meet Tabby Cat.
He looks like he's been through a lot. He has an injury that is trying to heal on his side. His eyes look mucus filled. And he's wheezing...
I'm grateful that people saw him. I'm grateful people cared about his well-being and did as much as they could. Tomorrow he will go to Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project in Renton where we will have him looked over and determine what kind of care he needs. Truly heartbreaking part is he maybe friendly. He just lost faith in humans and doesn't trust us..
Well, it's $5 Friday again and this is my weekly plea for donations. This week we're helping four families with spaying their cats be it friendly, feral, abandoned or whatever.
You see it doesn't take a lot to care about these cats in fact I feel like it takes more to ignore them because when suffering like this occurs it's avoidable.
Any help is appreciated and we'll just support us in continuing our mission.

ADOPTED!!!!!
My name is Mimosa! :)
I was brought in as a stray, but no one claimed me. I am now looking for a new home! I am a very sweet and affectionate girl who is dying for some attention! I am estimated to be around 6-7 months old. I have been using my litterbox with no issues and have been outdoors before, so I would make a great indoor/outdoor kitty. Though I wouldn't mind being indoors only, I would make a great mouser. I do not seem to mind the other cats here at the shelter but will need a slow introduction when meeting new friends. I have never seen a dog before, so that reaction is unknown. I would do great around kids and would be a great addition to a family! I am likely already fixed, but I will be going down to the vet on May 27th to receive my Rabies vaccine and confirm that I am in fact spayed. I am already vaccinated and microchipped, now ready to meet my new loving family!
