Today we returned to our roots- untethered and alone on paths well known to us- and it was good to do so. The dogs welcomed the chance to race up and down the mountain with no need for manners or restraint. And I saw the familiar with fresh eyes. I noticed especially this tree which I’ve stood beside a million times before, looking out at the dogs instead of up into its branches. But today it spoke. Enough so that I thought I might like to lie in the leaves and fully appreciate it. As anticipated, the dogs took great interest in me being anything other than upright, and so the first few minutes were less than serene. But eventually they, too, decided it was good to just be still. And we were glad.

Welcome to the pack, little Frankie 💕 She is a smart little thing with springs in her feet, and like most of my friends she does love a snack.
After visiting Frankie, I took The Chaos Committee to a bike trail to get some miles in and practice walking with several leashes. I think we all prefer being able to run free, but it is was nice to explore some place new.

Ella and Murphy tend to bark first and ask questions later when it comes to new humans, so we went to a more traveled trail today to practice ignoring people and it went great. Not a single bark from either of my more people-suspicious pups. Very proud moment for this canine life coach 🐾😍😂

Our tiniest pack member to date, sweet little Banjo 🥰 He has the same hiking philosophy as me: start walking with zero plan and keep going til the trail ends, then make a right…

Also, check out the mushrooms I found at a cat sitting job. I’d show you the cat, but I never met him. 🤷‍♀️

Returned to the trail with my seven best detectives to recover my lost phone.
Unfortunately, the investigation quickly devolved into running full tilt through the woods, creek breaks, group staring at absolutely nothing, and Clara assuming her role as Queen of the Hill.
No phone. No leads. Excellent team morale.
