We are so excited to share this amazing opportunity for kids this summer! 🐴💛

Veterans Rescue Ranch is proud to be partnering with some truly amazing ladies this year to offer horseback riding lessons, summer horsemanship camps, and continued equine assisted learning sessions for our community.

💯What I love most about working with kids is how they show up—curious, open, and ready to learn. There’s something really special about creating a space where they can grow, build confidence, and connect… not just with horses, but with themselves and each other.

👭And I truly can’t say enough about the women I get to partner with. They bring so much knowledge, heart, and life into this work. We share a passion for growth, healing, and building meaningful community—and it shows in everything we do together.

📚As many of you know, I’m back in school full-time pursuing my Master’s in Social Work, so I’ve had to be intentional about what I take on this year. I’m grateful that we’re still able to offer a little something for everyone:
✨ Kids riding lessons & summer camps
✨ Equine Therapy/EAL sessions
✨ Women’s Support & Prayer Group (1st & 3rd Thursdays)

🇺🇸 Custer County Veterans — Help Is Available 🇺🇸

If you’re a veteran living in Custer County and facing financial stress, we want you to know this: you’re not alone, and help is available right now.

The Custer County Veterans Trust Fund, a collaboration between our county VSO, The American Legion Post 170, and the VFW Post 12063, funded by the State of Colorado, still has financial resources available to assist eligible veterans with things like housing needs, utilities, emergency expenses, and more.

Reaching out for support is not a sign of weakness — it’s a step forward. These funds exist specifically to help veterans get through tough seasons and regain stability.

Our topic was supporting your spouse or partner without losing yourself, and the conversation was thoughtful, honest, and encouraging.

We meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month.

One of the most powerful things about horses is that they respond to what’s real, not what’s performed.

They don’t stay calm no matter what you feel.
They don’t absorb your emotions.
They don’t “fix” your stress.

What they DO is mirror your internal state with honesty:

✨ If you’re tense, they notice.
✨ If you’re disconnected, they hesitate.
✨ If you’re grounded, they soften.
✨ If your outside doesn't match your inside, they pick up on it instantly.

This is what makes equine work so transformational.

Horses give us real-time biofeedback about our own nervous system without judgment or agenda. And in that reflection, we get the chance to shift:

🌿 slow our breathing
🌿 reconnect with our body
🌿 become more congruent
🌿 move from tension to presence

Horses aren’t healing us —
they’re inviting us to notice ourselves.
