Saving Cosmo - Cosmo is fighting for his life at the ER right now. We need your help.

This weekend, we got a call about a 7-month-old puppy who was not eating or drinking and was lethargic. His family suspected a blockage and needed help getting him emergency medical treatment.

Today, Cosmo is fighting for his life. He has a fabulous doctor and care team working round-the-clock to determine what is going on with him and get him on the road to recovery. His initial presentation looked like Parvo, but multiple tests have been negative. Right now, it looks like he has a severe bacterial intestinal infection which produced a toxin, leading to severe cellular death throughout his GI tract.

He is on multiple IV antibiotics, IV fluids, and a naso-gastric feeding (in order to protect his remaining cells and drive his body to heal). Today, he is brighter and able to keep his liquid diet down. He is not out of the woods yet, and may need a plasma transfusion to help his GI tract heal. This will likely mean a few more days of hospitalization.

The estimate for Cosmo’s treatment at the ER is $7,100.04 - $11,575.38.
