☀️🐾 Summer Safety Reminder: Cyanobacteria Awareness 🐾☀️

As the weather warms up, many of us are heading to the water with our pups. Unfortunately, cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) can pose a serious risk to pets. Keep an eye out for warning signs posted near lakes and ponds, and if your pet seems “off” after swimming — vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, drooling, difficulty walking, or seizures — seek veterinary care immediately.

One helpful way to keep your pets safe this summer is by checking the Cyanobacteria Interactive Map monitored by the Vermont Department of Health before heading out for a swim. While the map relies heavily on self-reporting and may not always be 100% up to date, it can still be a useful tool when deciding where to bring your dog to swim safely.

It's black fly season again, so need to repost!!

In the category- it looks worse than it is:
Black fly bites!
These red marks on the dogs belly look awful but usually are just a bit itchy and will fade over a few days without an issue. Keep your dog from laying in the grass at dusk and you will see less of these!
