Ollie literally couldn't go out in town because he was so manically exuberant pulling on the leash.

Here he is transitioning back to his owner just a few days ago after his board/train visit.

It's really unfortunate how many people believe that their dog could never do this without some terribly harsh training program.

A reminder the goal of training whether you're using a reward, a leash and collar or an electric collar is to create new habits and behaviors making it much much less likely you will need those tools to reinforce behavior.

Most people manage behavior using those tools to control their dog. Yes, that's managing behavior.

I believe the better path forward is creating those new habits and behaviors.

And Ollie was pretty nervous and unsure of himself and the other dogs for the first couple weeks but has turned around really really well.

Most people are apprehensive of their dogs experience in a boarding train situation and I do my best to explain that it's probably the best thing in the world for their dog!

Oh yeah, he's already made a good transition to reinforcement with the electric collar off leaf during reward based marker training overlay

You don't do that pressing button at high intensity levels initially!

Here is Timber on his first day after transitioning to the electric collar outside of the exercise yard.

I want the dogs I train to be happily independent, not clinging to me because I dispense high value food on a regular basis or cling to me in trepidation of a potential "correction" if they were anywhere else.

"The world is your oyster, just come when you're called....."

The owner requested they recall with the command heel.

A lot of people get hung up in certain commands but it's just a word to the dog until it carries meaning. They could easily be formally trained to recall hearing Wizard of Oz .....

Yes, your cattle dog can be trained to happily comply with obedience commands even if you own two of them.
