Our sweet Bella 💗 it’s been a couple weeks since our technician Bella has left our clinic to go travel and live her young life! We have felt her absence here, immensely, and nothing will ever fill the space she left here! How GRATEFUL we are for her time spent with us here at UVA. We know she’ll be back to visit us, and we cannot wait for that day. 🖤 we miss you!! We love you!!

🐾 New face, same love for animals! ❤️

Help us give a big welcome to Amanda, the newest addition to our veterinary team! 🥳

Amanda is definitely no stranger to vet med! She’s been in the field since 2016 and has known since she was little that working with animals was what she wanted to do.

One of her favorite parts of veterinary medicine is animal behavior. She’s passionate about being an advocate for animals and helping people understand that our pets have their own ways of communicating with us. Sometimes we just have to learn how to listen! ❤️

A little more about Amanda:

🐶 She’s a proud dog mom to Yogi, a ‘Heinz 57’ who identifies mostly as a Husky/Treeing Walker Coonhound, and Deacon, a Border Collie/Great Pyrenees mix.

🐱 She’s also outnumbered by FOUR cats: Mac, Milo, Marshall, and the one and only Miss Cosmo Kitty!

🐕 When asked what dog breed she’d be, she couldn’t decide. Apparently that’s a harder question than we thought! 😂

After nearly a decade in vet med, Amanda knows this career isn’t always easy, but the rewarding moments make it all worth it.

We’re so excited to have her on our team, and we can’t wait for you and your furry family members to get to know her!

🚨 NEW EMPLOYEE ALERT! 🚨

We were looking for someone with a killer work ethic, we think we may have taken that a little too literally.

Please welcome our newest veterinary technician, Chucky! 🩺🐾

He comes with 30+ years of experience handling sharp objects, and a slightly concerning enthusiasm for surgery. 🤩🤩

His references were questionable, but he assured us he’s a “Good Guy.” 🤷‍♀️

So far, he’s been shadowing surgeries, practicing his lab skills, and getting acquainted with our patients.

We’re still working on his bedside manner… and keeping a close eye on the controlled drug cabinet. 👀

There’s some animals that appreciate post op cuddles. There’s some that simply do not. Stella here definitely enjoyed snuggles from each and every one of our staff members today after her growth removal surgery. Waking up from anesthesia can be confusing and disorienting, we love to provide that comfort when it’s needed. Love u Stella!! 💕🫶🏻

Dr. Westhoff performed a dental cleaning on her pup Sawyer today! He had some decent tartar noted on his molars that was easily taken off by our ultrasonic scaler. Followed up by polishing, and applying an Oravet treatment for prolonged prevention between cleanings! Remember guys; some dogs do not appreciate their dental chews! Some quite literally swallow them whole and it defeats the purpose. Make sure to look in their mouths (if your pet allows), and make sure their teeth are looking good. If not, give us a call. 😉 🦷 ✨

Something doesn’t seem right here 👀
Mr. Kitty here got tangled up in a situation! By first looking at the foot, you can’t directly see the wire that was wrapped around. Seeing the exact cut off and where the swelling was localized to, it was a strong indicator that there was certainly something hiding deeper under there. We shaved down, and immediately saw this teeny tiny wire. Dr. Patty was able to cut it off, and we sent this sweet boy home with an antibiotic injection, anti-Inflammatory/pain injection, and lots of cuddles before he left. We expect him to make a full recovery, as he is young, this was caught very quickly, and simply because cats are resilient creatures! Happy Friday! 🐈‍⬛👏🏼

Mr.Zeno came in for his annuals today, and was the PERFECT gentleman. (Minus some gruffles with his temp 🫣 ) he was given a clean bill of health, and probably way too many cookies. We love us some Belgian Malinois!! 🥰
