🚨 Protect Your Cats from Bobcat Fever 🚨
We’ve recently seen a rise in cases of Cytauxzoonosis (commonly known as bobcat fever)—a serious and often fatal disease in cats spread by ticks.
Bobcat fever is caused by a parasite transmitted through tick bites, and once symptoms appear, the disease progresses quickly. Signs can include:
• Lethargy
• Loss of appetite
• Fever
• Difficulty breathing
Sadly, even with treatment, this disease can be deadly.
The good news? Prevention is your best defense.
✔ Keep your cat on year-round flea and tick prevention
✔ Reduce exposure to wooded or high-risk areas when possible
✔ Check your pets regularly for ticks
Even indoor cats are at risk—ticks can hitch a ride inside on people, dogs, or clothing.
At Halo Animal Hospital, your pet’s health is our top priority. If your cat isn’t currently protected, give us a call—we’re here to help you choose the best prevention plan.
